Update: Just quickly checked on a 240x400 screen and it runs fine, the smaller font for the credits is unreadable (I'll make this a seperate menu item) but it looks fine and usable on touch screen

Re: Windows Mobile HUKD application (UK only) (free)

I'm ALMOST there guys, I have got to sort out the xml still and embed a browser in a new window to show more details on a deal... or I will sort out my own way around it

And another teaser screenshot, I have added support for tags

Unfortunately you can only use 2 words as anything non alphanumeric is converted to '-' or the API wont recognise it but i'm working around it so you can use as many tags as you want (Just fixed this actually)

So I have the returned data to sort then it should be go I am going to add a 3rd screen where you can get more details on an individual deal (and load in an image of the product)

That is on a 240x400 screen for reference (Samsung Omnia) and it looks fine so that + any res higher is fine

That looks really useful, have seen some great bits of free software for winmo recently. I do a bit of target shooting and picked up some ballistics software the other day, it even uses the GPS to fix the location and retrieves the current weather.

Currently I have the main page finished, I have added in the home screen (as you can see on xda), assigned the boxes values, assigned actions to the buttons and generated the html request

Still need to organise the returned result and display it with filters, allow the user to go back and search again (apply filters to existing results) and to search again

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=542697

If anyone on windows mobile is interested in this app please let me know and I'll get an installer together and get the cab sent out to people who want it, currently it's WVGA and VGA but if anyone has a request for another res and a few people want it I'll make an installer for it

I'll keep this updated for development updates

(Forum is for deals/freebies etc, I was going to change that to the computers/entertainment one)

Also going to add in a field to search the title to filter to help reduce rubbish
sounds like a c# app your doing using regular expressions to parse the HTML page

Yup im a programmer too hehe

Ahhhh, Finlay - I knew your name seemed familiar. I'm sorry for not getting back to your PM about WM development over on HUKD. I'd meant too, but I got distracted by the link to Race To Market you sent me, and it just slipped my mind from there. It's a terrible habit of mine, and I meant no offence by not replying. Fwiw though, it's going to be 6.1 I'll be coding for, but what I'm going to do with the app, I don't really know right now. I mean, I think I've got something that, at least within my pages of my notepad is a killer app, but I do feel pretty stung by their shunning of us WinMo devs and users, so I don't know whether it'd be better to release it anyway and hope to maybe win something from their "Other" category, or just keep the app to me and my WinMo-equipped friends. I'd normally not be so selfish, but when you consider the epic amount of revenue that HUKD brings in through its affiliate links, I don't really see the point in giving them something to boost their earnings for nothing in return.

All that aside though, your app there looks excellent. Potentially very, very useful. Have you posted about it over at the XDA-Developers forums ?

No worries, I have been really busy so not had much chance to work on it.
I'd suggest the 6.5 SDK as you get a lot of 6.1 stuff in there and better touch tech etc.

I plan to release mine as I really want to get it as a publicly released bit of software, as I would like to build a public portfolio of work I have done, being able to say "Had X downloads of my software" is a good thing to have

There is a link to the XDA forums in the original post

Re: Windows Mobile HUKD application (UK only) (free)

    Version 1 finished

    Download:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/274015365/NETCFv35.wm.cab
    http://rapidshare.com/files/27401551...sInstaller.CAB

Download the zip file, you need to install the net 3.5 Compact framework to be able to use it

(Installer is a bit hobbled right now, need to load from program files>HotUKDeals on the device memory, will work on this to fix)

    Known issues:
Speed (will work on next fix)
Bandwidth requirements (will work on in next fix due to large numbers of results depending on what you search for.... this impacts speed also)
Installer fixes needed, so the registry is properly added, can access from the programs menu instead of having to navigate to the folder
Add an uninstaller (atm just delete the file if you want to remove it)
Please link to this thread instead of hotlinking if you wish to share with others please
