    Samsung G800 "SIM LOCK "

I have a contract o2 sim in my g800. it broke and i've got a 2nd hand g800 to use. but every time i put my sim in to it it says sim lock, enter code?

    i haven't a clue as i have never set a code and the default 0000 doesn't work.

any ideas or solutions like new software?

Re: Samsung G800 "SIM LOCK "

Depends on where you got the other g*00 from. If it was on another operator, the handset may be locked so that it only works with sim cards from the original supplier. The original supplier may supply an unlock code often for a fee) or there are unlocking services available on the net - but beware as this is an area where scammers/fraudsters operate.

(This thread itself may well attract spammers pimping these unlocking services - I will have my ban hammer at the ready! :0 )

the g800 loads with the 02 water screen so is from the same network as me.

    pain in the ass.

you think you buy a phone, you own it but they make it hard to sell to someone without unlock fees for £. bolox!

Do you have a lock on the sim from your previous phone, or the person who sold it had a lock they didn't remove

Re: Samsung G800 "SIM LOCK "

sounds like your new handset is locked to the previous SIM that was in it. IIRC you need the correct SIM to remove that lock.

Re: Samsung G800 "SIM LOCK "

With a few handsets you can put a lock on them where it will ask for a code if a different sim card is put in it, sounds like this has been activated in the security on the phone itself. You need to contact whoever you got the phone off for the lock and pin codes.

Its either that or reflashing the phone with the official samsung firmware for it (Legally and NOT changing the IMEI numbers as that is a big no no). Trouble is Samsungs are a pain to do, had a few issues in the shop the past week where people have managed to change the pin codes on the phones. I've been trying to find out how to reflash them myself without having to send them off to Samsung.

Just doing a software update keeps the locks and codes, you need to do the equivalent of formatting a drive on your PC with it where the EPROM is completely wiped (except the IMEI number) and rewrote to return it to factory settings.

Some of the older Samsungs pin codes were also 00000000 (standard settimng) instead of 4 or 5 number codes as default
