They won't open a new phone for you to try.

However, every store has a fixed allocation of marketing money which can be used to open boxes to serve as "store phones"

Typically this will be a mix of phones kept in the storeroom for safety (especially brand-new models, e.g. things like N97 in Voda stores), phones under glass or clamped (usually under glass at O2 stores, clamps in T-Mobile stores), and phones on goosenecks or glued to tables (e.g. Blackberries in Voda stores on goosenecks, HTC Magic glued to the desk)

Just remember the important rule - YOU NEED TO TALK TO A HUMAN. You really do. Just filter out the sales nonsense.

Damn it. I was so up for a HTC Hero, but the terrible camera and lag have put me off. It's just going to have to be an iPhone now (not going back to WinMob again). I think Android just needs another year or so.

Well if the update for the hero really does sort the lag out i might be able to live with the poor camera, i guess i can wait a bit longer. I much prefer the Hero's design to the iphone.

If the camera is important to you then you'll be upset with an iPhone

Re: iphone, android or windows mob?

I need winmo for work. I had an iphone for play, it doesn't multi task and thus sold. I had an Xperia on Vodafone, Vodafone destroyed the ROM with their crap thus sold. Now using an unlocked Touch Pro 2 with stock ROM. No problems thus far. I'll take the HTC upgrade to WM6.5 but otherwise dont have the time to play with flashing ROMS.

I'd consider any device if it was suitable, Android has potential.

anyone got a touch pro 2 as I really like the keyboard on my kaiser as it makes it a lot easier than a screen keyboard.
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

    I've got a Touch Pro 2, it's excellent

Also had a touch diamond and the original touch pro, the TP2 is by far the most refined of the lot. I very very rarely have to delve into WinMo, pretty much everything is in the TouchFLO UI now. Oh, and it runs CoPilot satnav perfectly

Having been using the WinMo for the past 2-3 years, I feel it would be very inconvenient to change to another one. But sadly it seems its market share is shrinking these days.

There's a swathe of new handsets on the horizon for WinMo 6.5

Which is needed, really. The market changed a lot with the iPhone, and Microsoft (surprise surprise) failed to pay attention

Re: iphone, android or windows mob?

I had a look at the touch pro 2 today, and it is a gorgeous phone, and not that big. Also saw the toshiba TG01. THAT is a gorgeous phone, 4.1 inch screen and runs windows mobile(and is as thin as the iphone), the reviews however aren't that great.

I have also heard of the sony Xperia 2. Looks amazing and also has an 8mp camera, which no other smartphone I can think of has. Supposedly not too long until it's out.

The only problem I may have with leaving t-mobile, if I have to, is to find another mobile operator that can offer me unlimited internet as I currently get(3gb a month, only thing I can't do is skype).

    starbuck, have you looked at
    http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/...47/p10958.aspx

best deal I could find on the diamond 2 was with them, and its an unbranded / unlocked phone. Actually my wife went with them, and I cancelled my old contrat also with t-mob. Orange did look good, but they charge if you go over the data limit.
