    Anybody else eagerly awaiting this?

The new blackberry 9700 (onyx) looks sweet and supposed to be much improved over the bold!

It looks like......well, like a Blackberry to me, what's to get excited about? Haven't you jumped aboard the Android train yet?

Does it have a touch screen, 3G, and WiFi all in the same device yet?

Meh, I overheard some hip people who look as if they should probably own an iPhone talking about how they wanted a windows phone after they read some "review" in a newspaper.

Surely windows phones are not for the hip young and trendy, I always classed myself as boring with a boring windows phone where I could install an emulator, burn my old PSone games and upload it to my phone etc...

I don't quite get how the above comment relates in any way to mine, I did not mention the iPhone or WinMo. I actually used to have an XDA and very much liked it for the emulation and office tasking capabilities, but I think Android is currently the best smartphone platform available, if not quite having the range of applications available for iPhone, or indeed WinMo.

Nope not as yet, as this will be my first blackberry. I think this one is pretty good, I hate touch screens if I'm honest I need a tactile feedback of a keyboard, didn't like my touch diamond so got rid of it within a month. I think this one has everything you can ask for in a smartphone whilst being slim and very stylish.

Have a look at the Nokia E72, its superior, or the Xperia X2, D-Pad + keyboard + Touchscreen.

You know you can have a keyboard and a touchscreen in the same device, right?

    Nokia N900
    Palm Pre
    Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2
    Motorola DEXT

Those are just a handful of upcoming (or brand new) examples

They say the palm pre is a cross between the iphone and blackberry, sounds promising, will be exclusive to O2 though

Oh yeah I realise that mate, but those are far too big for me to carry around everyday (don't get me wrong I realise there very good devices for what they can do, but I don't need a mini laptop on me hehe), but I have had enough of windows mobile for the time being, android will only be for me if I dislike the blackberry.

Re: Anybody else eagerly awaiting this?

Too big? I don't think the Palm Pre is any bigger than the blackberry you have been looking at, and the HTC Hero isn't exactly a big android handset, I think its an ideal mobile size.

I am so glad us in IT have finally taken over mobile phones where I work or the prick that did would have ordered a few of those, handed them out to a couple of users and then told us we are supporting them.

Re: Anybody else eagerly awaiting this?

I like BlackBerry, but I think they need to step their game up with the design of their phones + make them a lot thinner for christ sake! If Nokia can do it RIM surely can as well!
