    Re: HTC HD2 Phone

Ok so I'm still pondering about getting a new phone as normal I keep reading and reading and just have more questions. So far it's a toss up between the HD2 and the N900...

Can you people who have the phone give me your opinions on the below questions.

How do you find video playback or higher resolution files? Smooth?

A lot of people seem to have some kind of SMS bug where it either does not send or is laggy. Have any of you noticed anything?

Do you have that pink overlay on camera photos?

In general bearing in mind that video/audio playback and the web being the main use, are you happy with the phone?

    Thanks

    Re: HTC HD2 Phone

If you want it on vodafone, you'll have to go with an independent. In fact, I would suggest anyone wanting the HD2 should go via this route to guarantee the ability to update their phone without needing to go down the rom route.

Vodafone have stopped selling the phone to non-business. If you've got vodafone insurance and a HD2, you may want to check the small print as you're unlikely to get a hd2 as a replacement effectively making the insurance policy somewhat useless.

Great - no problems - I've had to re-encode 720p & 1080p files, but anything that is 480p (i.e. the exact resolution of the screen) has been perfect with no skipping or stuttering. I've not played huge amounts of video content, but what I have played has been utterly wonderful. There really are no words for quite how lovely the screen is for video playback!

Er, yes. I restored 3000 texts from my last windows mobile phone, and now when I open the text interface to some contacts to whom I've sent a lot of messages or from whom I've received a lot of messages, it takes a while to load. I'm talking a couple of seconds or less, but it's really noticable when everything else just runs soooooo quickly. Wouldn't have blinked if this had happened on my last phone (Xperia X1) as everything was slooooow compared, but when it's the only thing that slows the phone down, it pisses you off!

    None detected on mine.

I got mine on T-Mobile, and it's been great - having been on Vodafone for over 10 years, I'm actually really liking the change. I'm on the Flext tariff on T-Mobile, and I'm loving having calls to 08 numbers included in my allowance. Makes a **huge** difference to my bills over Vodafone... Reception and HSPDA speeds both seem excellent - so far no complaints...

Think vodafone on the verge of having the N900, nexus and iphone. Plus I guess as their IT department is too busy tampering with all the phones before they're released, something had to give.

It's a crazy business decision. The HD2 is just awesome and I can't think of any reason why you'd want to drop it from your lineup unless one of the big players is using leverage on a competitive contract.

I've had the SMS don't send bug; texts seem to stay in the outbox. A reset corrects it and HTC have issued a hotfix, although I still encountered the bug since applying the hotfix. How since my last reset nothing wrong so far.

No pink overlay on my photos.

Also if you use remote desktop, the screen resolution actually makes it quite usable on this phone.

    Re: HTC HD2 Phone

Guys I have this on Vodafone and like people above have said Vodafone havent and dont seem in the process of releasing updates for the phone. How can I flash my phone so that it accepts all the updates from HTC as well as rom updates?

Vodafone is also not exchanging HD2's in the event of failure to consumers but are instead offering a like for like phone which they have said will not incude the iPhone. So I will just use my house insurance if my phone breaks rather than go through Vodafone. If anything I wish now i had not of went with Vodafone as the impression I am getting from their forums is that they dont care about their customers.

So how can i use these updates guys?

    Re: HTC HD2 Phone

You will need to use HardSPL to unlock the phone, then you can install the official HTC firmware. After that the updates can be abllied and you don't have any of the Vodaphone nonsense.

Does this cost anything? Also is there anyway to save the rom thats on my phone now so that if i ever need to give it to Vodafone I can just put it back the way it was?

    Re: HTC HD2 Phone

No cost, and yes you can back up your ROM.

head over to XDA-Developers, find the section for the HD2 (listed by code name, I can't remember what that was for the HD2) and start reading. There is a lot to take in, but it is definitely a good idea to read up on flashing a ROM, it can go very badly (but this is rare).

There's a rumour that LG will release a handset based on WM7 in September, which may give some indication of when the HD2 gets it.

    Re: HTC HD2 Phone

I'm having a little trouble with my texting at the moment.

When it says 'tap to compose text', I tap, and then nothing happens. Then I try it a few more times, and still nothing. Then about 20 seconds later it will let me 'tap to compose'.

The phone generally is awesome apart from that. I'm a student I need to be able to text rapidly

Any ideas guys? I've already cleared it the inbox and got the HD2 update...
