Update: They didn't answer the phone after 45 minutes today and I had to go to work and so was forced to hang up
Will try again in the morning.
EDIT: Finally got through after about 1 hour this morning. They didn't even cut me a deal to be honest but I'm just glad to finally have a new phone.

Ok so, my phone should be coming on either monday or tuesday morning and I'm looking for a bit of guidance.
This will be my first smart phone so...
Is there any vital apps?
Is there websites i can download apps from apart from the marketplace?
Are there many good HD2 dedicated websites?
Help appreciated, thanks
HotUKDeals for Windows mobile I made it, should have a new release out around Christmas depending on how things go
XDA Developers forum is the best place, I get a lot of my apps from there, nearly all are free. The marketplace has some good apps on, but most are paid only.
If you are after games drop me a pm, I found a site but it's sign up only...
And don't get the X2, after the issues I (and others) have had with the X1 I suggest staying VERY clear of them now

From the rumours that have been going round, the X2 isn't coming out until next year now anyway.
I think THE best phone out at the moment is the HD2(and it kicks the iphone's a**). The only thing the iphone has over other phones at the moment is the apps store, but android is catching up and windows marketplace is getting better.
Now all we need is an app convertor so you can use iphone and android apps on windows mobile.
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.
Definitely isn't coming out until January, on Vodafone. They have a two months exclusivity deal on it or something so it isn't available on any other networks until around March I think.
I fully expect that date to slip back though.
I'm not bothered about that now anyway because I have a HD2 coming tomorrow
The strength of the WM marketplace and android store is that you don't have to use it, you can copy over a cab installer for WM and install it without using the store. Saves developers the £100 or so in entry costs (and to join the WM marketplace you need a VAT number it seems which sucks)
I think Orange have dropped the ball on this one by not even stocking it.
xda-developers and htcpedia are the places you wanna go.
Its WM so theres plenty of app sites out there.
I'm almost willing to shell out for this but the one thing the iphone seems to be able to do is stream movies / music directly from your computer via 3g. An app called Orb lets you connect to a switched on machine and play any movies / music off the Pc's HDD.
Does anyone know if there is a way to do that with the HD2?
I know there is remote desktop built in (and tweaked) but assume it has the same limits as the regular version and won't allow you to use graphics / movies etc.
If you use resco explorer you can map a network drive to a normal share on the network and play them that way, its crap but not sure about actual streaming..
remote desktop is good, but just as a remote desktop, I couldnt imagine it being very good for watchin video remotely.
Best bet is to ask over at xda developers or htcpedia.
I really wanted to try out remote desktop, but i couldn't get it to work for the life of me. Maybe I couldn't get the setup right in my router.
