HTC's phones are normally great quality. You do have to realise though that any smartphone is not going to have a brilliant camera. That is not what you get these phones for. The camera is supposed to be better than their previous ones though. Like any camera on a phone though, they will all take pretty decent pictures in daylight and not great in darkness/indoors.
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

guys over at XDA will probably port android for it before long. The sony X10 is looking good though, which is out in feb and runs android.

Amazing hardware - although I did have a few setup issues (T-Mobile, not the HTC's) there is also a few software niggles (could be patched in the future?) which aren't affecting me much as of yet....the major killer, and I guess downfall of this phone is the battery power.
People used to not charging their phones until after a couple of days, will be sorely dissapointed. Then again this is running a hefty CPU & screen.
Over on XDA everyone is trying out tweaks to get the most out of the battery life.
I just have a feeling they may of rushed to get this phone out, before the X10 or something.
I wouldn't expect the X10 to be any better, or any smart phone for that matter. I only get a day of heavy use from my Touch Diamond 2, and that has a much slower processor and smaller screen.
Granted I have a permanent data connection and Exchange sync enabled. But I would not expect any more than I normally get. I can get two days when I'm roaming overseas though, as the data connection is on demand instead.
It's mixed at the moment - for my self, I wouldn't say it's been noticely bad considering the hardware. Alot of other people are stating alot worse though.
When my TD2 arrived I got just over a day of battery life out of it, now I get up to 4 of moderate use (including push email). The increase in battery life is down to a better radio, the battery becoming conditioned, and the wow factor wearing off.
Actually that is a very good point. A few weeks ago I was very, very bored waiting for a helicopter and spent the time playing Teeter on my TD2. The phone was beeping at me about the battery by late afternoon, never had it last so little time before and that was the only thing out of the ordinary use wise. There was a thread on xda devs about the official winmo 6.5 upgrade for the HTC snap and the first few posters moaning about how it's halved the battery life.
What the complete muppets hadn't thought of if the fact that they spent the whole day after upgrading messing around with their new phones.
The battery life is the same on both factory ROMS. I have tested both under as controlled conditions as I can. (2 phones conected to work email account, doing the same things on both till I got bored)
I got bored long before the battery ran out on either.

From what all the reviews have said about the battery, everyone has questioned the comparitivley small size of the battery. HTC said that they worked on the phone and battery usage though so that you should get a days usage out of the battery with fairly heavy usage(which apparently includes a permanent data connection for push email etc).
With all new smart phones, you are not going to get the same battery usage as you did with older non-smart phones. It's something you have to accept with them and not expect days and days of battery. I am thinking of getting either a second battery or one of those tiny portable power packs which will give you about 2 full charges.

I've had the Touch Diamond for nearly 18 months and been really pleased with it. Just can't decide whether to go for the HD2 or the now much cheaper Touch Diamond 2 (can get this for about £25 per month instead of £35 for the HD2 on a decent tariff).

Actually, you're totally right, i kind of retract what I previously said (don't let it put anyone getting this phone) as it is pretty damn special.
I wasn't too sure what to see or expect (first smart phone for me) but now after using it for a few days using it, yep, pretty sure they are being a lil' fussy about it.
Have to agree here, I do tech support for a silly amount of different mobiles and your average Blackberry, IPhone and HTC/other smartphones all have battery life issues. These smartphones usually have a permanent 3G/GPRS connection, high resolution, high contrast and high colour screens. Because of the applications people now run on them, they need a bigger CPU, more ram etc
The batteries themselves have increased in capacity however people still want small, more and more complicated devices - somethings got to give.
My HTC Touch HD has a WinMo 6.5 on it, you do lose a bit of battery life compared to WinMo 6.1 - but for light use I still get 5-6 days on average. Be nice to see if the HD2 is better on battery life if the processor is more efficient - my next upgrade isnt until October 2010 so wont be able to test it myself :/
Use the HTC phones at work, currently got a Touch Pro 2 which is awesome. Very interested to see what this HD2 is like
Windows Mobile is so seamless in a microsoft exchange environment, just can't see the point of blackberrys.
With blackberries theres a lot more to them than just email with the Blackberry Enterprise Server, ie completely phone configurability remotely with regards to phone based policies etc.
