Then again I'm really spoiled by my k750's battery life, even my current symbian phone lasts 3-4 days on a single charge unless I go frenzy with web browsing.
3. Home screen - Yes I want one, or at least something customizable so I can view my calendar and notes in the same screen.
4. Multitasking - I've heard that the iphone is capable of a some multitasking but that one single button did seem very limiting when I was playing with it. E.g can you edit your contacts/notes/calender while surfing the net?
5. Small issues like no bluetooth file transfers (so I've heard) and no radio.
1 - Yes its slow, but has a massive library, I don't actually use it much apart from to sync, it downloads new podcasts without me doing anything so I barely have any trouble with it.
2 - Yep, it's damn awful
3 - I would like a sticky note option, it could be nicely implemented (ie it wasn't in any fixed position on the home screen so could be moved round over your icons like a proper post it)
4 - Multitasking in that you can play music in the background, you can't switch between note/safari without closing one of them. They do pop back up where you left off but (IMO) it's not 'proper' multitasking.
5 - You can BT photos from one iPhone to another using an app, but that's it so far! Radio - guess that's a personal thing as I never really used one.

There's an app for that!

Because then you wouldn't need to install iTunes!
The proprietary lock-in Apple has on the digital media market at the moment (by pushing iTunes constantly even when you shouldn't actually need it really as in this case) is Steve Jobs' wet dream.

join the forces and get a HTC Hero if you like Touchscreen, or wait for the Motorola Milestone (Droid), as this looks great, has Android 2.0, 1ghz snapdragon processor and a hardware keyboard.
Ben
Motorola Milestone (Droid) doesnt have a snapdragon processor
Re: Iphone, worth the fuss?
My bad, I miss-read something, still, the 500mhz Arm3 has proved to be pretty good for Android right?

Re: Iphone, worth the fuss?
I've only had my iPhone 3GS for about 6 weeks after moaning about the cost of them and the fact they were Apple and heavily restricted.
I loved it straight away. It really is a very good piece of kit but make sure you try using one first. Touchscreen isn't for everyone and if you've tried (and hated) touchscreen before (like me with my LG Viewty which was awful) then remember that the iPhone is a completely different story. It works really well... it's still not everyone's preference though.
Re: Iphone, worth the fuss?
I spent a whole day playing with the HTC Hero the other day and IMO its wipes the floor with the iPhone and any other phone OS tbh and I am a massive WinMo fan.

I have the Hero and an iPhone, and for me the problem is the general lag when doing *anything* on the Hero. If you've never owned an itouch or iPhone then this may not bother you, if you have it'll drive you crazy.
Re: Iphone, worth the fuss?
i have a iphone and ipod touch and the iphone IMO is still better than the htc hero which i also have as my work phone

I'm waiting for the HTC Bravo to come out....I would go for the HD2 but for the OS.....
The spec on the Bravo looks good (and I presume it should be smooth given a 1Ghz CPU).....just a case of waiting.
One mate has an iPhone - he's shifted between the various hardware/software versions but he's looking to move to Android :surprised:
Another mate has a Hero which I had a quick play with the other day and didn't notice it being slow. I didn't really use it in anger though....
Edit: What I forgot to ask was if the Android would be a mistake seeing as I'll probably end up paying the same monthly rate anyway (not on a contact at the mo).....?

You have updated the ROM on the Hero I hope? If you still have it as the factory ROM I am not surprised that you complain of lag, the update however has made a massive improvement and I don't personally experience any lag on my Hero, You just gotta remember to exit apps properly, as of course multi-tasking does have its downsides, just like a desktop pc...
The Hero continues to wipe the floor with the iPhone IMHO.... Can't wait for the (FREE) Android 2.0 update also!

So true, I had no experience of lag on the HTC Hero I was using, and as stated, the reason the iPhone feels smooth is simply because it does not multi task, I would like to try and see it play some music while your web browing and checking your mails at the same time. Theres no debating it, the iPhone is smooth, sleek and very responsive but so is the HTC hero, Android as an OS is far superior IMO.
Re: Iphone, worth the fuss?
Well I'm in the process of replacing my iphone 2G and here is the reasons as to why I do and don't like the handset.
Good points
Interface is easy to use
Nice range of apps for all sorts of things
Bad Points
No ability to change batteries.
Forced to use horrible software to synch songs/files
woefully slow at times, especially when trying to do 2 things at once, i.e check a post code and then text it to someone. It's not this slow on the adverts is it. MP3 playback + another task is so slow its funny at times.
Weird Speaker issue which means that if you deviate from 2 degrees over a certain angle, you can't hear the person speaking when on the phone.
Re: Iphone, worth the fuss?
Of course its not slow in the adverts, and they get away with false advertisemnt as they say at the end that steps/sequences might be shortend.
