Orange you say? Why follow the crowd? Have you considered an Android handset? Consider perhaps the HTC Hero

Whether it's worth the fuss depends, I'd say, entirely on what you want from a phone and whether you like the way it works.
For me, it's not worth the fuss (let alone the price) because all I want from a phone is basic phone functions like, erm, making and receiving calls and a small phone book memory. But I'd bet I'm an exception to the rule of gizmo-mania.
Also, I've got a bit of a contrary streak. I bought a creative labs MP3 (amd 4) player precisely because most people seemed to be buying iPods. And because IMHO the Creative sounded a lot better, but that's just my opinion.
So I'd say it's worth the fuss if it's worth it to you. It is to a lot of people, but not to me, neither of which tell you if it would be to you .... IMHO, of course.
Just wanted some opinions from people on here, as you can go to youtuibe and maybe find one or two videos which are informative and about 1,000 which are either massively for or against. I love tech stuff and I have had a windows mobile phone in the past but it kept answering calls in my pocket and sending calls due to the touch screen, but the rest I found fine.
Its a very good phone, used it plenty of times. The smoothness of the screen and operating system is the best part of the phone. The only problem is that's bloody expensive (in comparison to other phones), so its up to you whether you think its worth the price. Alternatively you can get an android phone such as HTC Hero. I have the HTC magic, and once you put on the custom firmware on it, it is a superb phone. Plus I got it for almost half the price of an iphone and its just as smooth. I would admit though the iphone looks slicker.
What about HTC HD2?

It will always be a personal opinion as to whether you'll like it or not. I have a 3GS and it's fantastic. The Appstore is full of genuinely useful, fun and intriguing applications and games that can be quickly and seamlessly downloaded and ready for use. I know many people who think their iPhones are the bees knees and I have to agree with them!

That's fair enough. My only point is that opinions on an issue like this are pretty worthless unless yo u have an idea of the values and preferences of those expressing them. My opinion, for instance, would be that it isn't worth it and it certainly isn't to me, but then I regard a mobile phone as an occasionally useful and more often regrettably necessary pain in the butt. As long as it makes and receives calls, it suits me. Given that that's my opinion of mobile phones in general, it wouldn't come as much of a shock to you that I don't think premium phones are worth it, but without knowing why I think it isn't worth it, it wouldn't help you much. If you got ten answers here eight of which said that it isn't worth it, it wouldn't help you much if it turned out we all felt as I do and you didn't know that.
That's all I'm saying, Opinions of others can be useful, but be cautious in how much you rely on them.
not sure, corners and matte finishes are back in now and the hero is all about the angles, and the slightly rubbery back of a t-mob g2 isnt half tangible. iphone is starting to look a bit dated, i mean, if you want something iphone like then the t-mobile pulse is is the same vein and i have heard people say its UI is better than the HTC sense, but i think thats probably balls. but its £185, probably about £205 factoring in an unlock, and android is a rapidly growing monster that will consume all before it.
the last bastion of the iphone is games now, and phones like the moto droid are its equal, just waiting for the games that will be along shortly.

Android is definitely growing fast, the sheer about stuff (firmware, apps, etc) is amazing, not a lot people know that though. Just having a look at the pulse, its looks surprisingly good value.

I did that too - although it was also partly related to the fact that I despise iTunes.
Downside was that my mum said she'd buy it for me for Christmas, and I think she had to go to virtually every shop in a 20 mile radius before she found one because nobody could understand why she didn't want an iPod. Nonetheless, I got the right one in the end, which I have to say was a miracel in itself!
I would look at the HTC HD2, it really is better than the iPhone, in every way.
The secret of the iPhone is that noone uses any of the apps they download a few days after they first install them.
The web browser is unbeatable, but I'm holding out a few months for an Android phone. The screens on the new Androids will blow the iPhone away (60% more pixels)
