Touchscreens - have you scratched yours?

How many of you have bought covers for your phones?

My new phone should be arriving in a couple of days, and I'm a bit worried about screwing it up by bashing or scratching the screen - does it happen fairly easily or should I not be worried?

My HTC touch diamond 2 came with a suprisingly good screen protector, which I installed the minute I got the phone. An extra layer of defence is the rather good proporta leatehr and aluminium case that it lives in.

yup got a screen protector on mine (BB Storm) which is pretty good, but you can get off ebay for very little money,

Although im pretty sure that most phones come with one these days,

But if it doesnt come with one, i would recomend you get one.

I have never had a problem, my old HTC TYTN II took a fair bit of abuse, didnt have a screen protector and it lasted its course no problems.

Re: Touchscreens - have you scratched yours?

I'm on my 3rd touch screen phone and haven't had any major scratched screen incidents. I always keep my phone in my trouser pocket on it's own and NEVER put any keys/coins etc in the same pocket. If you're careful and don't tend to drop things regularly then you should be fine. My Samsung Tocco screen is pretty hard and durable so I'd have to be doing something pretty stupid to manage to scratch it.

Re: Touchscreens - have you scratched yours?

Had my Touch HD for a year now, and no major scratches, only one very small one that's not noticeable unless you're looking for it. That's without a screen protector, although I do use the case that came with it if I'm going to have it loose in a bag or something like that.
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.

just popped a protector on my hero today, my xda zest's screen without one on ended up getting so scratched it was smooth again so hopefully this stops a repeat of that im not the most careful person in the world and its all too easy to stick change or keys in designated phone pocket by accident

Re: Touchscreens - have you scratched yours?

my renoir hasnt been scratched yet and thats a plastic screen(not glass as its resistive not capacitive). I do however have a screen protector on it, it came with 2 originally (1 on as standard and 1 spare) so was well protected. I do recommend buying a full body protector though, maybe not the silicon or plastic ones as its bulky and collects dirt but try ones from www.bestskinsever.com (something like that, google it). They charge like 8$ for a whole body skin and they are pretty good, my sandisk sansa fuze is mint condition still!.

Re: Touchscreens - have you scratched yours?

I have had an iPod touch for a couple of years now, and the screen is absolutely flawless. However the metallic rear side was scratched to death within a month of owning it. Cheeky Apple really know how to destroy the resale value of their goods to keep us all buying everything new...

Re: Touchscreens - have you scratched yours?

I have never scratched a screen on any phone, but my phone is always in a pocket on its own.
It makes me cring when people enpty their pockets looking for change or keys and the phone is in there with all that crap.

Regardless, I always get a screen protector anyway as if that gets scratched or marked, it's only a few quid at most to replace and it helps for resale value of the phone!
