    T-mobile retentions

Just called them to cancel my contract as I got a HD2 on another t-mobile contract for free.
They tried to convince me to stay obviously, but they gave me an amazing offer(which I didn't take up but may be good for other people).

I was offered 300 minutes and unlimited texts for £5 per month as well as a free PSP or DS.

As I have a second contract I said no but if anyone else is with them on an expired contract and thinking of leaving them, this could be a great deal for someone.
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

    Re: T-mobile retentions

I have just got off the phone with T-Mobile (who I've been with for almost 2 years now) and I must say I'm very happy. I fullly expected them to say from the start "no we won't give you what you want" and to ask for the cancellations department to try and fight for a decent upgrade... However I came away pleasantly surprised.

I got a new phone (HTC HD2), a new contract (saving me £10 per month), free internet access from my phone and after looking through my previous phone bills and seeing that I had the odd call to 0800 and 0845 numbers he even changed my flexi plan to include those in the allowance so they'er technically free. That way I should never go over my flexi plan limit. I'm quite happy with that!

    Re: T-mobile retentions

I have been with T-Mobile for years and always been happy with their deals as you say Allen they are generally good with the offers However mine is due in Feb but if I stay with them all depends on if Orange get shot of the FlexT deals as I notice now the T-Mobile site starts at the Flext40 for £40 a month with webnwalk and £220 a month to spend on the phone. I am currently on Flext35 for £29 a month with web n walk and £200 a month to spend on calls and texts etc including the 08 numbers.

I think they need to give numbers up prior to the orange merger.

I got a free HD2 as well - £15/month or £20 with free internet. Crazy deal.

Did you have to go through to the cancellation dept to get that, or was that a new deal? I've just spoken to the upgrades dept, explained I'd seen people saying they were giving out deals like yours, and they said absolutely couldn't do for less than £41 a month on a 18 month contract.

EDIT: gagaga - I've just seen your post in the HD2 thread which answers my questions:

In the end I took the bait - £20/month in the end including unlimited internet (300 min, unlimited texts). Ordered on thursday last week, arrived yesterday (monday).

Anyone else see a problem with their definition of "free" in that.

Oh, I know what you mean, in that it's a flat rate not a usage charge, but nonetheless, free it ain't.

Imagine, a burger joint offering a burger for £2, or with free chips for £3.

    Re: T-mobile retentions

I phoned T-mobile's cancellation dept - no chance. Just a flat refusal to do it any cheaper than £41 a month at all, let alone down to £20.

I very, very rarely go over the inclusive minutes so they're obviously not too fussed about keeping me. They handed over the pac code without even trying to tempt me into any other deals.

It's not just the money you spend though, it's also the money they charge other operators for your incoming calls that they take into account.

Eg an emergency plumber may hardly make a single outgoing call all month and never go over allowance but will receive dozens of calls a day, making him a better customer than someone on a more expensive plan. So what they tell each customer is specific to them only.

    Re: T-mobile retentions

    That's interesting.

I'm quite annoyed now, having looked round a bit more. There's several internet type places offering it for free on an 18 month £34.26 contract on t-mobile, but only for brand new customers. Not sure whether I can be bothered to phone again only to be told it's for brand new customers only or they won't match internet deals. I guess that's life.

Don't suppose an operator is now obliged to honour pac codes that they have issued themselves? i.e. as a customer of t-mobile, are you still in a worse position than non t-mobile customers when trying to use their deals?

Cancel then take the new contract

For the PAC code, get a free PAYG sim card on another network, transfer it to that then transfer it back

I'm on the sim only deal with a rolling contract.

I wonder if these kind of deals are available to me.
