Il be getting this fo sure!
Actually, after reading some of the coverage, I think the only really interesting thing about this handset is that it will be released to networks in a similar fashion to the iPhone. Google will dictate how the phone operates and looks and there will not be any customisation between networks.
I'm guessing Google will also push down software updates meaning you won't have to rely on the network releasing their own customised ROM updates. This will be a good thing and something MS need to do to stay in the game.
£330 sim free seems pretty reasonable to me, but I'm curious to know what the shipping / customs fees would be like to the UK
By the time this hits the UK there'll be a few competing handsets available via the networks. The Motorola Sholes Tablet and Milestone, Sony Ericsson X10 and HTC Bravo are the expected ones so far. Not so sure this will look so hot by then to be honest.
Shipping is $30 to the UK. VAT and Import Duty bring the total to just over the £430 mark.
Bit of a shame really, could have done with being just on the other side of £400. I'm prepared to pay a bit to get it over here, but not £100 over the retail price!
I've been told by a few people that Import Duty doesn't apply to mobile phones, so that makes the import price more like £410. That makes it a tenner more than the Milestone is now, can definitely say I'm tempted.
It's either this, the Milestone or the X10. The X10 being the wild card. Last time anyone saw it the handset was running Android 1.6, it's currently unclear if it will release on 1.6 or a more recent version. The launch date and price are also unknown at the moment (probably April, and definitely over the £500 mark). Hopefully CES will throw up some answers. Also not sure how much to trust Sony-Ericsson with regards to updates, I have a nasty feeling that they'll drop support for the X10 as soon as the next Xperia hits the market (they did it with the X1).

Looks like when this is actually available in Europe multitouch will be enabled, just like the Milestone vs Droid.
But no GPS? What's up with that...
Where did you see that?

So does this mean there are at least two versions of the phone?
So...how would one go about purchasing the 'correct' phone...? After all according to Vodafone you buy the phone via Google and if you want it unsubsidised then there is only one choice on the www.google.com/phone page or am I just over thinking things?
