    Powermat charger

Just seen the vid from CES showing the powermat. New one seems a great idea as all you need to do is replace the battery with a powermat one and it will charge via that.

    2 comments though:

1: Seems a great idea and doesn't need anything you fit onto the phone like a skin to charge it.

2: I'm a bit concerned about the heat on the battery cover if the phone is charging from battery to powermat with only the cover in-between.

Oh, and I wonder what battery life will be like as well as they will have had to sacrifice some space on battery for tech to allow it to charge the way it does.
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

    Re: Powermat charger

first of all, your phone cover will be just fine. this is because the power transfer is only operate between the powermat and the receiver on the battery. therefore there wont be any issue on your phone cover.

on the other hand, you batter may last slight shorter compared to the traditional battery as the current storage of the powermat may reduced to give way to the powermat receiver.

The idea sounds great, but the amount of different battery sizes there are would surely make it hard for this to take off. Or am I missing something here?

    Re: Powermat charger

When first advertised I was really impressed with it. Im not so sure now, the fact that you have to put your phone in a bulky case everytime you want to charge it seems like a total waste. Its far easier to just plug my phone into the normal charger then remove the protective case my phone is in (touch pro 2) before putting on their chargin case and put it on the mat.

    Re: Powermat charger

I thought you replaced your battery with a powermat battery and could then place it straight on the powermat. If it's got to go into another case, it puts me off.

    Re: Powermat charger

You need to plug things into a receiver, which you place on the mat....hmmm

They do have "backs" for DS/DSi batteries for iPhone, iPod touch and Blackberries.....I guess the range will expand over time.
