    K850i broken. Help?

Ok so here's what happened. Last week I was using my sony ericsson K850i like any other day with battery life at around 50%. It then randomly restarted itself and when I checked the battery it said 11%. So I was thinking no big deal. So I go on through the day and the battery ran out causing the phone to shut off. Later when I got home, I plug the phone into the wall charger. However this is where it starts getting problems. The keypad would light up and the phone would give a slight vibrate like normal when I plug the charger in but the screen won't turn on (it's completely black). It doesn't even show that the phone is charging or anything, no display. I tried two other batteries that were fully charged, but it gave me the same problem when I try to turn the phone on. I also tried another wall charger and left it plugged in for 5 hours but the problem still persisted. I tried plugging it in to the computer via usb cable but the same thing happens. Also the computer doesn't recognize the phone on the computer anymore as it said that it failed to install the drivers for this device and it was working fine before the problem happened.

So any advice to fix it or maybe a diagnostic of what happened to my phone would be great! Thank you in advance

    Re: K850i broken. Help?

yes i am having the exact same problem! it cut off while i was talking on the phone last night with low battery and now wont switch back on. i charged it all night and even tried other batterys in it but no joy pc doesnt recognise it either. I have contacted sony ericsson and they suggest to send it to them but i am reluctant as it will probably cost more to fix. Any help is much appreciated thanx

    Re: K850i broken. Help?

Easy enough to fix that one.

The software has corrupted on the phone and you need to reflash it, mine done it all the time.

    Go here :

    http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/supp...on?cc=gb&lc=en

Download the software and install it. Start up the program and it will update to latest version.

Get your data cable out and connect the phone up to the PC, now select the phone from the list (Its listed as a K850) and follow the onscreen prompts.

Unfortunately, anything you have saved on the phone will be lost as it wipes the phone then reflashes it. However you will have a working phone again.

    Re: K850i broken. Help?

If you still have your receipt and the phone is less than 2 years old you can contact Ericsson support. If it is under 2yrs old it is still under warranty and they will repair it for free

    Re: K850i broken. Help?

I managed to get a K800i back that was pretty screwed - when you plugged it in to windows all you got was a "Ericsson Business Systems Flash Device".

I used the SE PC Suite 6.0 to do a phone recovery. It said this had failed, but it then appeared ok in XS++ (which it didn't before).
Then used downloaded firmware and filesystem files to reflash it, and it was ok.

    Re: K850i broken. Help?

My old K800i had a white screen of death. I couldn't do anything on it. I couldn't connect to the PC or anything.

    Try this:
My friend said that he fixed his by putting it in the freezer for 30 minutes. It came back to life after that.

However, it didn't work for me

Try holding down the C (cancel) button before plugging in the usb cable.
