But it must have more raw 'powa' so who knows what could be done on it? Then again by that time I'm sure it'll be a year down the line and the Galaxy S will be a low end phone

    My thoughts exactly

I have got one ordered though and waiting for it to arrive

    why?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAE_zKAtMvg

Custom launchers are available to remove touchwiz

Got a Desire on order too, but I can reject either, going to have a proper play with them on Thursday after work hopefully and see which I like more, apparently the Galaxy S has gps issues but it's not too bad, hope there is bluetooth gps device support to improve the perf in cars with google maps

Does everyone else's compass work ok?
Mine seems to find a direction (not sure if it's right though as not got a proper compass anyway!) but if you rotate the phone it then points somewhere else, usually it'll then pop up saying there is some intereference & to do the figure of 8 thing, I do this and it kinda works but not much better?

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Seems to calibrate you should do the figure 8 so YOU can see it rather than as seen from above, seems to have made a difference to the compass (which eats battery for breakfast so I'll be avoiding from now on!)

These Desires sure do get hot though, I've found a useful way to keep it cool...

With Version 2.2. Not before (unless you use Apps2SD)

Though to be honest, they're all Android phones with HTC's Sense UI, so I can't see it being all that different really. Besides having a flash for the camera and a higher resolution screen, it's essentially the same phone. Seems like HTC are releasing the same Android updates for the Hero in like with the release of the new phones too.

    It does look nice though...
We should not deliver too much expectation on HTC Desire. It is just a gadget that HTC released in a hurry and holds the mission to share a spoon of soup with iPhone 4. So except the cool and brilliant UI, it won't have essential difference from other HTC phones

Is there any plans for a HTC Touch HD style phone on Andriod? I've got a Touch HD and the desires screen feels too small!

2.2 is suppost to boost performance by loads anyway. Makes comparisons seem kinda moot in my opinion

I really hope T-Mobile do make the 2.2 update available as soon as possible, I'll be really interested in seeing if it is actually a significant performance increase.

Not exactly true... the desire has a number of improvements over the hero and imho is a superior device to any iPhone variant. Over the hero it is preloaded with 2.1, has nearly twice the CPU speed and RAM and a bigger screen.

From your comments it sounds like you are anti HTC or just an apple fanboy, if this is true this is not the thread for you!
