lol, in terms of the colour of my phone I prefer black over brown.

I've never switched contracts or anything like that before... if I were to use the mobiles.co.uk and their 'upgrade options', is it really as simple as putting in your number and away you go or what?

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Good question, I'm currently waiting to find that out myself. Put through an order to upgrade on Orange there yesterday.

I'm going to expect the worst, and assume that they'll only allow you to upgrade if you're within your service provider's upgrade period (Usually the last 1-6 months of your contract). I hope I'm wrong!

If you're switching networks though, you'd have to pay off whatever's left of your contract for sure.

Anyone know how long until the phone will be available direct from the networks? Going to be much easier for me if I can just get the upgrade direct from Orange rather than going through a third party like mobiles.co.uk.

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

I went into Carphone last week, they told me I couldn't have the Desire as it isn't released for a month! The liars.

Offered me the HD2 for £150 up front if I continued paying £35 a month.

Needless to say I walked out.

Good question. The official word is April 2nd for Orange, yet it still doesn't show up on their site. Seems like availability is pretty limited though, a lot of pre-orders from mobiles.co.uk still haven't been sent out apparently.

Hah, yeah, when I told O2 I wanted to cancel my contract so I could switch to Orange for a Hero, they tried to tempt me with that too. Kinda missing the point that I wanted an Android phone, and at that point they stocked absolutely none. Even if they did, HTC manages to bring Android to a entirely new level.

    Update: mobiles.co.uk came through.

    Have the phone. love it.

Now have to cancel the 1 month free trial crap I got with it, like tech Help and insurance, and stuff.

    Otherwise, seriously happy.

Which is quite sad, in a way.

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Unfortunately the upgrade was as I expected:

    Hello,

Thank you for your recent order.

Unfortunately your chosen network has stated that you are not eligible for an
upgrade. This could be for a number of reasons. Please contact our Sales Team using
the link below for further information on this matter.
Looks like no Desire for me Short of selling my Hero (which has already seen a bit of wear and tear in 6 months) and shelling out £2-300 for a Desire. Might take a trip into Carphone/Phones4U but I doubt they'd be able to offer me much.

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Just got my 1st paper bill. Not only have they put me on 24months instead of 18, there is the delivery charge of £6.80 which was never mentioned plus VAT on the whole lot to add on, so my £89 is now £104 + £8 delivery

I should be on 18months, £20 / month, 300mins/300txts. The upfront charge was £129, but I asked for a discount and it came down to £89
