Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

You could do with with the TyTn II and the Touch Diamond 2.... as well as probably every other HTC handset in between. This is an area HTC really need to improve.

Singh, 2 questions - what is the widget that is spelling out time / battery life, and what app are you using to take the screenshots?

To take screenshots I'm using the official SDK from here, and just running ddms.bat to invoke the program to take screenshots.

The simple clock you see on my main home screen is Digital Clock Widget. The date/time and battery percentage spelt out in letters are BattStatt & Tajm.

Using the official HTC 2.2 (mines unbranded). Its frame rate. All the audio is there, but it stutters bad on the pictures when playing back through the phone.

Just removed the back cover to test pic quality, that's really bad isn't it!?
I look after my phone as well so its not my fault :-/

It could be your sd card is too slow to write video at the full framerate... what's the speed of your micro sd?

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

First thing: What apps (non rooted phone) are you guys using to test SD card speeds?

Second thing: I've got a few issues with my Desire:

    - Internet stops working (wifi or mobile) ie You can't search google/bing but sometimes typing in addresses would work (but still no Google)
    - Calls going straight to voicemail in good coverage areas.
    - Optical trackpad not always working in emails/internet to move the cursor.
    - Random movement/keyboard not working in the browser

So I contacted Voda via their eforums & got a call back.

I have agreed to wait for new stock of the Desire to come in & will get it replaced (plus I'm getting £50 account credit for the hassle) but I assume I'll now get an SLCD Desire with the Voda bloatware on it.
To be honest I'm not totally bothered by the bloatware, I never use the list of apps anyway so I'll never see them.

I am wondering about the screen though. Only Cnet Asia & Howardforums seem to have done any comparisons of SLCD vs AMOLED & the come out fairly equal. If AMOLED stock is tight but HTC say SLCD is better for power/other stuff then why would they still use AMOLED when it becomes available?

I hate AMOLED in sunlight, it's awful, SLCD will help with that, vertical viewing angles..? Who cares, I look at my phone from above so I don't see how that'd bother me.
Does anyone know if the SLCD will have a 'genuine' 480*800 res (unlike the AMOLED) & will this even make a difference?

Googling isn't giving me much (plus I'm in work so can't view any videos of anything)

    Rob

Entire thing is a farce and as buggy as hell. Root it and install the default 2.2 mate.
