Is voice dialling supposed to be available in Froyo? I'd heard it was, but can't seem to see it anywhere on the phone...

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Well, just used unrevoked, had to download the drivers seperately as the ones that came with the app didn't work. Now rooted, just take it I need a ROM (only interested in stock with Sense for now)...the searching continues!

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

No word from HTC on when my Desire will be shipped back yet. Bit gutted because I'd only just got 2.2 and then it had to go back again.

If I have to return it for a third time when it comes back then I will be asking for compensation.

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Now happily on 2.2, love the new options in 'manage apps'
Anyone used a startup manager & know whats safe to remove?

I don't use weather so I imagine that is for starters!

EDIT: So, any tips on altering icons/etc? Also interested in the undervolting to increase battery life but I take it that needs a new ROM?

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Got rooted on my linux netbook. Spent 30 mins figuring out how to move a file into a protected folder using sudo. 30 mins trying to copy and paste!

Anyway, will find a ROM to use tomorrow

Altering Icons: I use Better cut. It's OK, but if you try and rename Camcorder, it doesn't work. All a bit strange. And I cannot, for the life of me, alter the mail or people icons. At all

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Well I have a bug. I have two GMail accounts. The primary one syncs, but the other does not even with sync turned on in the settings. Have to manually refresh each time. I suppose a workaround is to enable one in Mail ... but that kinda defeats the object. HTC messed up on that one in 2.2.

Decided to try out a new ROM now. Going for this one. Probably do it over the weekend, or tonight if I get time.

Saw that one, looks good but not sure I need the extra bumf as I'm happy with 2.2 apart from a few cosmetic change I'd like.
They only seem to take a few mins (ie download to card, backup then flash) so I might experiment a little as well.

I have the voice search app and realised I can voice dial on the phone, but what I really wanted was to voice dial through my Supertooth Buddy. When I press the button to do voice dial on that, it just dials the last number I called.
I guess I'll need to wait until they sort that one out...

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Depends what you want, I used the pretty much stock one from earlier in the thread, the one Singh posted a bit ago should be good too.

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Sorry to be a noob but I don't want to break my phone.

Can someone give (or link) a detailed guide to upgrade to a new ROM?

I've got the clockwork recovery mod install - rooted/whatever.

Is it just as simple as downloading the image, sticking it on my SD card and installing from the clockwork recovery menu?
