    How hard is your mobile?

    I have a Nokia 5500 sport...

it's 3 years old.. and gets dropped a lot.. and it's hard.

But today, at Jiff's house, I dropped it in a pan of boiling pasta... and failed to get it out for three lunges of my heat damaged fingers.

Battery out... put it in a bowl of dry brown rice (Jiff... that was a moment of water absobtion genius my man) and it's fine.

    Proper fine

So... totally submerged in boiling salted water...

    how hard is YOUR mobile?

MY old K800 from SE was hard as a rock, never worried abut breaking it.

My current C905 is a little more delicate, been dropped a couple of times, no worse for wear.

Re: How hard is your mobile?

To be fair I have dropped my HD2 a few times but the rubbery case thing I have for it is pretty good..

My best phone had to be my old Nokia 3210 (?) had an argument with the missus (at the time) and obviously with a mobile you cant slam the phone down, so it got propelled across my livingroom and hit the wall at a fair rate, the back and front covers came off, the battery came out, the aerial section came off and all went in various directions over the room.

I put it back together and bar 2 of the little led's not working the phone was fine...

Re: How hard is your mobile?

Well firstly I hope that you rinsed the phone in fresh water? Otherwise yes it will survive the water, but that salt may have a delayed, and serious effect

I can't remember the model, but I know a mates phone went through a full wash cycle in his trousers, and was fine!

I've got fond memories of my nokia 6210.

I've still got it in a draw, just incase I need to fix a fissure in the earth's crust.

Re: How hard is your mobile?

I dropped my HD2 in the kitchen then other day (i was a little tipsy and the thing flew out of my hand) Luckily it landed flat on it's back, the battery cover came off and that was about it. But I'm pretty sure the thing would of hurt itself bad if I hit the edge or the screen.

I was shocked for a second, but too tipsy to care at that time.

Re: How hard is your mobile?

My wife's 5800 fell off the fridge and broke the screen. A few phones previous, (we think it was a motorolla but not sure) fell off the bed onto carpet and never worked again.
There ought to be some minimum standard for how robust things like mobile phones have to be.

Re: How hard is your mobile?

Sony Ericsson k850i - had it for a few years and it still works perfectly. The worse thing that's ever happened was being dropped out a second story window, bouncing off a table then onto the patio. I was at a party and someone called me looking for my friend and I thought it would be a good idea just to throw it out the window and into the garden where he was. He missed. He picked it up and it was still working and carried on the conversation haha.

That still doesn't beat a bot of boiling water though .

I'm not about to test my HTC Magic for hardness (although it's certainly not the most rugged phone I've ever used...), but my last phone - a Nokia 6288, has to win an award for softest phone. I managed to crack the screen whilst driving a car.

No, I didn't do anything unusual - I put the phone in my trouser pocket, along with my house keys, got into the car, drove the car 5 miles to the car hire place I was returning it to, took my mobile phone out of my pocket, and the screen was cracked. Softest phone EVAR.

Re: How hard is your mobile?

My friend has a HD2 which he decided to test how strong it was compared to his car door. £168 + vat later he has a nice clean refurbished HD2. Not the strongest device but you would not buy one of those for rough sites, I still like cheap nasty phones for rough treatment. Motorola F3 for me £8 from ebay and made for Africa so dust proof etc ugly as sin when you look closer but from a distance they look ok

    Or alternitively... hardest thighs evar!

Oh yeah, I have a desire now which hasn't been dropped but as mentioned in the desire thread my previous one just died on my desk without me even touching it!

A one off I am sure as my last phone was an HTC hero which I accidentally launched from my pocket running down Newcastle Quayside. It must have went 6 or 7 meters before it bounced. Back cover and battery came flying out, had to hunt around the floor to find the battery but when I did find it and switch it on it was was working perfectly and still is.

My N73 doesn't get much abuse, but my Nokia 7620, despite its girly looks, was so hard that IT MADE ME BLEED! Part of the metallic fascia bent back and cut my finger pretty good. I was impressed.
