    Smart Phone to replace PDA

I currently have an old school PDA running Windows Mobile 5, its getting on a bit now and the battery life isn't too good.

I would like to get a smart phone to replace it - I like the way it easily synchs etc with Windows/Outlook, would a windows mobile based device be the best way to go, or are there better options than that now? I quite like the look of the Blackberrys but the equivalent priced ones lack the features of WinMo based devices.

    Thanks for any advise!

Windows Phone 7 - coming out later this year. Maybe get a second hand WinMo to tie you over until then ?

CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Have you looked at Android devices (I think they get the POP email support but not direct syncing)

I would suggest looking at an android device, T-Mobile had a fairly got one for £100ish on PAYG recently and some of them are fairly cheap

Yeah, it depends how tied you are to Outlook I guess. Most people can't wait to get away from it.

I've never looked back since going Android. Everything syncs over the air to your gmail account. Set your contacts up online and they appear on your phone in a minute or two.

Kinda cool that they also sync with your Facebook account to get pictures for everyone!

The only tricky thing is word and excel documents, but then 'Docs To Go' can fix that for you.

Generally WinMo devices aren't very good these days. The only one I would go near is the HD2...

Windows Mobile can do the Facebook bits, with the application you also get a phonebook of your Facebook Contacts and can call/text them directly (supports multiple numbers per contact also IIRC)
Via either Facebook or SPB Mobile Home

The devices are good, it's just there isn't a huge amount of choice, especially if you want a hardware keyboard

I guess we'll agree to disagree there. HTC's Sense UI is the only thing that makes them bearable and having now tried Android, I don't think I could ever go back to WinMo...

Have you tried SPB Mobile Home then? It is almost a complete UI overhaul like Sense and is not HTC tied

Thanks for the replies everyone, might hang out a bit longer to see how Windows Phone 7 turns out, although this looks more like a iClone than anything!

Yeah I never liked windows mobile either. I'd definately go for HTC's android system over Windows mobile anyday.
Blackberry series are definately on the list, especially if you want a very business orientated phone. It works great! The new Bold 9700 is a great pick = )
