    Orange UK

Is anybody having trouble with their phones and the Orange network around the Merseyside area?

My phone (HTC Desire which I unbranded weeks ago but have NOT rooted) has been working fine today but an hour ago I have been unable to make or receive a phone call.

If I call someone it will either disconnect after a few seconds or I will get a few seconds of ringing. If someone calls me its the same or it goes straight to my voicemail.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    *EDIT*
Just tested my SIM card in another phone and it works perfectly can call and no disconnects, must be my HTC Desire, has anyone heard of problems like this?

    *2nd EDIT*
OK this is just plain weird, I put the SIM card back into my Desire and everything is working now. WTH?

    *3rd EDIT*
OK its getting weirder, when I call someone and have my phone next to my ear it disconnects the call but if I put it on speaker to hold the phone in front of me it connects the call. Any suggestions?

    *4th EDIT*
Randomly started working again, Im going to keep an eye on it but I think my Desire might need replacing.

    Re: Orange UK

We had this problem a few days ago with the staff on the corp Orange contract - call would just drop at random yet when I called them back from and IP phone it worked and stayed connected no problem...

Looks like a random orange fault..

Was just going to post this. Text messages working, but mobile internet on my desire is fubared.

Seems like it's up and down, probably Cameron's fault

More likely the lid-dems - their colour is nearest to Orange.

    Re: Orange UK

Bad internet continues. My desire is extremely reluctant to access anything network related. It will insist it's connecting at anything up to hsdpa (?) but I can't get anything online, not even news or friends updates. Going to ring Orange tomorrow if this doesn't improve.

    Re: Orange UK

I spoke to Orange yesterday and they're having some data problems. My Nexus One seems to stop using data now and then but switching into airplane more and back seems to help.

On dropping calls, you haven't got a task manager installed have you? Auto kill on perhaps? Many task managers will kill all running apps when the screen goes off (like when you hold it to your head, but not when held away on speaker).
