Re: Android Apps - lets get them all in one place...

Appbrain - allows you to schedule installation of apps on PC
Juice defender - according to reviews helpful at increasing battery life, although I have not personally extensively tested it yet

You can see what apps I have installed here:
    http://www.appbrain.com/user/sim_/apps-on-the-phone

Still testing a few so do no know if all of them are decent!

JuiceDefender is great in theory, but too often it leaves you with no connection even when the screen is on and it should give it back to you

At the moment I use APNDroid instead.

Re: Android Apps - lets get them all in one place...

Couple of new ones I've stumbled across....

Es file explorer - fantastic file explorer that can be used to manage and install files locally but the ace on this app is that you can also explore any shared files and folders on your local network such as music, documents or videos.

Heavy Gunner 3d - really loving this game. Think space invaders meets an fps, difficult to explain but its great fun and the graphics are fantastic!

SpeedX 3d - a tunnel game is the best way to describe this. Fast, smooth 3d graphics as you fly through a tunnel that opens up and goes inside-out. Surprisingly addictive!

DriveSafe.ly - reads out your texts or emails, perfect for when you are on a long drive! Works well and if you do a lot of journeys then the pro version is probably worth it.

GMote - 2 main functions, firstly you can use your touchscreen as a mouse for your pc. Secondly you can stream music from your local pc. Works well, I could imagine the mouse function being useful for a media centre pc.

MyPlayer - BBC iplayer app, not as good as beebplayer was when it worked, but it also does live tv and radio. Will do until the official BBC app arrives.

Rockplayer base - in beta at the mo, the .apk is floating around. Fantastically plays divx avi, mkv files and more. It has played evrrything I've thrown at it so far, once it comes out of beta it will be very popular.

    That's my roundup for now!

Re: Android Apps - lets get them all in one place...

I found the playback very intermittent, It would often stop 5 minutes into the playback, this was a very widely experienced issues. Also they had to take off the live tv streams on BBC's request. For Live streams I use TVCatchup.com anyway now that it's working on Android, but it's still nice to have a (working) iplayer client. I just want BlinkBox.com to get an Android app out now!

Re: Android Apps - lets get them all in one place...

PDANet is a good one to get.

Allows you to tether your android device if it isnt a HTC

Frodo is the classic C64 emulator, works well but it doesnt multi touch which can make games quite hard to play.

Marvin : Speccy emulator which pulls down the speccy games from world of spectrum to play. A little hit n miss at times as occasionally it wont load. Wonder if that was done on purpose!?

    Daily Dilbert : Enough said!

Motris : Similar to Tetris but the screen is wider than the Tetris grid, simple but addictive.

Realplayer : handy for media type stuff

Tvcatchup have been playing silly buggers with isp`s lately so its possible they are doing the same with mobile phones.
