You understand you can add any widget to you lock screen, but you don't get the point?

Maybe have a quick look at the video I posted above.

You didn't quote my whole post/comment.

If my screen is locked then it is also dim or off, ie the only time I'm going to be looking at my lockscreen is if I'm about to unlock the phone.

Perhaps it's just not for me?

I can't see the video due to work filters.

But there's a difference between you not needing it and you not getting it.

For me it's very useful to have BeyondPod widget on my lockscreen. Saves me unlocking and scrolling to the right homescreen. Same for a DoubleTwist widget.

ANyone know if there is an app that will send an sms via web for free(using your phones internet connection)? I want to send international texts, which you can do from a website for free, I just wondered if there is an app that will route an international sms via internet for you and back when you get a reply.
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

    Anyone else got Tasker?

    http://tasker.dinglisch.net/

Lifehacker had an article saying how good it was, wanted some feedback before I get it myself
    http://lifehacker.com/5599116/how-to...ted-superphone

Looks very comprehensive, just interested to think what people who have similar devices (Desire/Galaxy S etc) think about it before I get it

Haven't got it, but there is so much positive feedback on other forums, so I might try it when I switch to froyo... Looks like out will be a pain in the backside to fully set up though.

Re: Android Apps - lets get them all in one place...

Can anyone recommend a decent app that can cache websites for "tube viewing" from rss feeds?

So far I have found tRSSreader (free and works in initial testing, but seems very limited in functionality. will be using this for now), newsrob (free version doesn't support offline and it seems heavily integrated with google reader, so you can't add feeds on the go afaik - but according to reviews this is the one to buy) and nubinews (free, but interface is not good).

I was going to suggest the full paid version NewsRob before you edited to add you'd tried it.

You can read very basic versions of each article offline but the inability to add/edit feeds is a PITA.

    You can access Google Reader via a URL 'trick' and add/remove your feeds. I've bookmarked this link;

    Code:
    http://www.google.co.uk/reader/settings?display=edit-subscriptions
and it's working fine so far.

I'm still toying with the idea of getting this app or not. The first article almost had me messing my pants, but when I broke it down I couldn't really see a need for it so I wrote it off.

Then I read this: Push Your Automated Android to Awesome Heights with These Tasker Setups and I'm torn once again.

Re: Android Apps - lets get them all in one place...

Anyone know of any good (and free) apps to use for basic data collection?

I just need to record multiple items during the day, then get totals of particular values & be able to look back through the days.
At the moment I'm using a notepad app & writing it all down manually which is a pita…

I'd give EpiCollect a try, its a pretty good data entry and logging program that might meet your needs.
Otherwise, the imaginatively named "simple spreadsheet" might be better for number logs.

Re: Android Apps - lets get them all in one place...

    Lets see:
Multicon Widget - Lets you have four short cuts per grid space. So I have one instance of this with Google Earth, latitude, Navigation and Places right next to the main Maps icon

Call Status - Widget that shows the the number of minutes used today and since a certain date in a month for you biling period. It would be good if it could filter out 01, 02 and 03 numbers (landlines) as I get unlimited calls to them. I keep meaning to email the author.

LED Light - Simple widget, does what you expect it to and no more.

BattStatt - As recommended by someone on here. Displays the charge level of you battery as a widget in digits and is customisable. I really like this.

Dazzle Configurable Switcher - lets you define different aspects of your phone to let you switch on and off easily.
