There are many short cuts like this that make Swype so cool. It is by far faster than any other keyboard. If you get used to it, you'll love it too (and no, I'm not some young kid!)

My issues with the SGS so far are -

    1) The power button. How many times have I tried to turn the screen off with one hand and almost squirted it out.

    2) No flash for the camera. (Or to use as a torch)

    3) Terrible battery life. Granted I've only given it 2 or 3 full cycles, but it's only lasting 14-15 hours on light use at the moment.

    4) Speed. Generally it moves very smooth and quick, but every now and then it seems to slow to a chug for a few seconds. I don't think I have this with my N1. (Maybe FroYo is the difference)
    1) Not really had this problem
    2) yup is a pain - is it that hard to put an led on a phone?
    3) This does get better
    4) I've noticed this too, hopefully a froyo upgrade will happen sooner rather than later

For those not understanding my issue... when you hold a phone (in your right hand) your last 3 fingers generally grip the left side, the bottom right of the phone sticks into your palm, right? The thumb is usually used to grip at the top right of the phone. When I have to move my thumb to press the power, often the bottom right will also get pushed out so nothing is gripping it on the right side I've had this happen to me quite often, enough to make it very annoying and be quite a mark on the downside for it when being decided against my N1.

It might not be so bad, but the button is not even on the edge, it's just round, slightly underneath, so I even have to push it out from my palm to make sure my thumb gets to it. To me it just seems a really bad design.

    Didn't know that

It was more the range of them, the stock keyboard has quite a lot which is nice

    Re: Samsung Galaxy S

    vs iphone 4

now got one of these amongst our staff and done a speed test

Browser, winner - samsung galaxy s
the samsung loaded hexus much faster than the iphone by an enormous margin

    music, winner - iphone 4
the iphone loaded its music software first, its ui was a lot faster and then the samsung music player crashed

    camera video, winner - draw
both performed exactly the same in this area, although the samsung software meant it took longer to access the camera (by a few secs) the iphone didn't display the result as quickly

    reception, winner - samsung
maybe a little bit unfair but the iphone had no reception most of the day and its owner is currently contacting vodaphone and considering exchanging for a 3gs or galaxy s due to reception problems

    apps, draw
both were capable of downloading all the apps either of us wanted, apps worked quickly. Multitasking worked on both devices and was flawed on both - ie no fast swop

    screen, winner samsung galaxy s
much has been made of the iphones better resolution but theres an agreement throughout the whole team that the samsungs screen has better colours and is just generally better.

    design, winner iphone 4
everyone still thinks the samsung looks like a copycat iphone. The iphone 4 on the other hand looks very fresh. Opinion is mixed on the extra weight the iphone has, it lends a feeling of quality but is a practical problem - especially as it feels heavier than the previous iphone. Although the samsung is good everyone who wanted an iphone 4 still wants one, but is no longer in a rush to buy one.

    Re: Samsung Galaxy S

Thinking of getting this phone on three as an upgrade. Anyone know if I will have any problems updating the firmware and Android when updates are available. I have a Nokia E71 on three and have never been able to update the firmware because three never approve them.

    Re: Samsung Galaxy S

Just been reading today on some mobile web sites that Three and Orange are currently in the process of looking at Android 2.1 for the HTC Hero. Orange claiming that they will release this next week.

I am guessing you have to wait for your operator to release the updated android then. I am on three now with my E71 and was thinking of just sticking with them, but not if I have to rely on them to update the software as my E71 has never received an update even though many have been released.

    Re: Samsung Galaxy S

    No, I just wont bother.

I thought I've provided useful info to you guys, I didn't realise it had to be fresh and original on this forum. It certainly seems an odd way to do it, you would prefer I copied and pasted a huge big review into one of these posts?

    Nevermind.

Btw Finlay, use a quote button. I assume the response is to me and if it is, considering your replying 2 weeks since I linked to something and 6 posts later (which, is an odd definition of 'spamming' you have) it might help us understand what you're talking about. I'm still not totally sure what your talking about. Questionable items?
