Well on my 3GS a full screen website can't be read in portrait, but can in landscape.

I'm guessing the extra resolution wil mean I could read a page while zoomed out, though you'd still want to zoom in to read much.

Picked mine up today! And i must say its a massive improvement to my 3G 8gb.

Just had a quick facetime call with a mate - and its not half bad!!

Love the screen though - just converted a movie and it looks superb!

Maybe he can't play DVD/Blu-ray, which is not unreasonable lol... Afaik, divx is not a common format to buy video in, so it has to be converted from something else at least once (unless you buy the video from itunes).

I guess that only Apple formats will work (and maybe other basic formats for old mobile video).

They must have known a fair while ago, I can't see it being easy to make sure that all the flawless units reach as many Apple fanboys as possible. Or do they just lie about there conveniently being no issues with their units?

They should have known unless all testing was done in the field (ie they had cases to disguise them as was on the 'lost' unit)
Stories coming out that some stores swap them, some CS reps saying 'buy a bumper' & homemade mods such as sticky plastic or nail polish, none of this is acceptable in any way, shocking form!

Re: Who else is going for the iPhone 4 tomorrow?

Ok, I've had mine since friday and so far I'm very very impressed. I've gone from the 3g to the 4 so I notice the speed improvements prehaps more than others. The screen is stunning, it makes browsing and reading much better. However apps that aren't updated look poor in places. That will change I'm sure.

I moved from 02 to vodafone with the iPhone 4 and all round my signal strength has improved. I can replicate the signal issues, but only when really trying. I await to see what happens on that. I doubt it's something that can be fixed in software, but I'd love to be proved wrong.

One of the things that has been great is the HD video camera. I recorded a great film on friday of 4 Army Chinooks landing in a friends field. (They were dropping off and friend with champagne and chocolates for a birthday girl. Got to laugh). The camera really captured the feel of the wind and all the grass etc thrown up when the closest one landed. As well as half an oak tree coming down! My only complaint is that when you move the phone a lot the sensor struggles to cope. I had it only in one hand and was being buffeted so maybe that was this particular situation.

Re: Who else is going for the iPhone 4 tomorrow?

Is that because your screen isn't yellow blodged?

Do you find that the signal is OK? I can't get reception at my desk (epic fail, HD2 manages 3.5G!)

Is the battery life OK, I'm struggling to get more than 2 hours gaming + 1 hour talk time + 12 hours standby.

Is the performance OK, i've had one or two incidents were the phone slows right down, only for 3 seconds, for no apparent reason, really annoying when i'm trying to blow up my stick building...

I've got no screen issues. I switched to vodafone, but I've seen a dramatic improvement in signal strength over my old phone. Not sure if that is because of the move from o2 or the iphone 4. Wifi strength is much better too.

Battery life has been great, far better than my 3g. Which required plugging in every night pretty much. I've been using the phone a lot with no battery issues.

It sounds like yours is a right lemon, I'd be swapping it in store if I had as many issues.

Here's one review which goes into quite a bit of depth especially regarding the reception issue: http://www.anandtech.com/show/3794/the-iphone-4-review Bit annoyed it praised it quite a bit over the 3GS (mainly because functionally, the 3GS would probably meet my requirement heh).

Ok - I found this hilarious but seriously, I would love one, but cant justify the cost I think I will try and get a HTC legend come upgrade time, as its a bit smaller and cheaper but with similar functionality. Oh well, if a windfall comes my way...

Oh and for those against that youtube link - here is the mirror universe from the same creator here

Re: Who else is going for the iPhone 4 tomorrow?

I won't be getting one given it has a major design flaw - i.e. it loses signal when you hold it - which is the main purpose for a phone.
