o2 confirmed revised iPhone 4 to be released

A collegue of mine spoke with O2 today to renew his contract and they told him that he will receive one with revised hardware which fixes the signal problem. And, they also confirmed anyone who orders one after 30th Sept will automatically receive a revised hardware version. O2 Business have had no stock of the iPhone 4 for a few weeks now - this is what prompted the question.

well thats good but signal issues aren't the only prblem with the iphone 4 as its also prone to software problems like crashing and they better have sorted this on this revised version as well

A red herring. No such thing as a revised iPhone 4 version, if there were, the tech sites would have been all over it and Apple shown to be the liars they are and force them to admit there was a problem.

Minor hardware revisions are commonplace and are generally made unannounced. I believe it.

Maybe we'll be getting the white iPhone now then? They said "the 2nd half of July" for that, yet we're still waiting...

Re: o2 confirmed revised iPhone 4 to be released

Once source doesn't constitute that its happening. I am surprised if its true though, as there were big issues over the reception problem initially, a hardware revision like this would be slated. Minor things yes, different phones (N97 -> N97 mini) yes, this big? No. Its Apple admitting there was a problem and them having to fix it.

That site says "A Mexican report....". Yeah when did we start believing everything they say?

Re: o2 confirmed revised iPhone 4 to be released

There already is a revised iPhone4, if the article I read (possibly on El Reg) and the pictures accompanying it are to be believed. It features minor visual differences to the original, is supposed to have fixed the signal issue, and is allegedly attainable as a replacement if you hand your original phone into Apple's tech support. Of course, I'm far too lazy to back this post up with any evidence, but if you fancy googling, you might find the source.

In other news, did you hear about the two iPhone4s that got married? Apparently, the ceremony was really good, but the reception was crap. They held it in the wrong place.

    That brilliant, made me laugh.

Anyway i'm not sure if they will release a revised phone or not - there has been no indication of this from any of the reputable sites, and not really any substantial rumours.

There is plenty of speculation (and has been for months) around it but only because of the case program close date. I don't think they will do it though, as it would cost them far too much. If they release a hardware revision to fix the error then they would have to refund or replace any existing iphone 4's if a customer requested it - in the UK at least. It would be admitting that the original had a fault, and I don't think they can afford to do that. Of course I would love them to do it - but I would bet that they will just wait for iPhone 5 (or..4g?) to be released next june. Thats more likely based on past form imo.
