    Your top 5 phone apps

Basically just looking for all SmartPhone users to post their top 5 favourite apps, you don't need to give a reason for them or anything like that, but that'd also be helpful.. Just state the phone you're using and build your list .

My top 5 iPhone apps are:
    1) Traffic Rush (59p) - Super super addictive!
    2) Light (Free) - Lets me use the LED flash from the camera as a torch, especially useful in the winter months.
    3) Facebook (Free) - Supports "Push" and Facebook Chat, and works extremely well, definitely better than just using Safari.
    4) BBC News (Free) - An easy way to keep track of the news.
    5) Megajump (Free) - Another highly addictive game, and it's free.

Mainly steered away from paid for apps, unless I've actually tried it one someone else's phone, so I'll look forward to everyone elses recommendations.

Re: Your top 5 phone apps

Not as many good apps since I went Android so it might be hard to name 5 but...

    facebook
    engadget
    myfitnesspal
    myplayer (iPlayer downloader)
rockplayer (plays many video formats not supported by stock apps)

I wish Android had anything even 50% as good as the Apple app store

For games it beats Android into the ground & for me that's what I used the most, on the train into work, lunch break etc. The Android app store is also full of useless/spam apps, at least Apple had that partially under control unlike Google where things run wild

Re: Your top 5 phone apps

The range of games on the Apple App Store is very good.. And then the iPhone 4 plays the games amazingly well with brilliant graphics. Dunno what some of the newer Android phones are like for that but the iPhone + App Store works very well.

Re: Your top 5 phone apps

The phones are powerful/great, the games don't take advantage of them though (well, maybe about 5 do)
If I could have my Desire running from the app store I'd jump at it.

For me top things a modern phone does are.

    Make telephone calls
    Address book
    Text messages
    Mp3 playback and
    Camera

Its amazing the number of phones that cannot do those things well.

Re: Your top 5 phone apps

I have a Palm Pre running webOS, my five favourite apps are:
    1. Monopoly
    2. Foursquare
    3. Mobile Hotspot (tethering)
    4. drPodder (podcasts player)
    5. Twee (Twitter)

Not necessarily in that order. The Facebook app is good too, built by Palm, not Facebook.

Perhaps it's just me but I value the non-game apps way more than the games... maybe you should have stuck with the iphone if gaming is a top priority, or maybe you should buy a psp or ds...

The only thing I'm surprised to see here is 'Text messages' - didn't know people were still using them

What would you have prefered Txt msg? or Short Message Service? or did you think everyone should use email from smart phones (only if they have to get a licence first!)? My boss tries to do everything from an i-phone, so normally ignores half the comments in my emails as he is typing on the copy he sent, rather than merging in any comments, or tries to forward attachments to me which are too *DAMN* large for his phone to hand, so he then sends me a SMS message telling me I have an email which I don't get so I then have to go to his desk to help him send me a message to me!

Suppose that's fair enough, BB Messenger is basically the same as texting though isn't it?

    I still send about 30 - 40 texts a day, at least..

Re: Your top 5 phone apps

As long as you have data plan, both BB Messenger and What's Up are free and unlimited to use [only limited by your data plan] What's Up is great because it works between BBs and iPhones as opposed to BB Messenger which works only on BBs.

30-40 texts a day? You must be hooked bit time, kinda phone glued to your hand 24/7
