    Faulty E71

I've got a nasty problem with my E71, when anyone phones me and I answer I can't hear them, and they can't hear me. I also can't hear any dialing tones once I've dialed the number I want.

Oddly enough if I switch to speaker phone everything works, I can hear the person whose talking to me and they can hear me. But as soon as I switch back to the normal speaker thats it no audio again.

I've checked all the volume settings and nothing is wrong there.

Annoyingly I got this from Orange online, do you think if I went into an Orange shop I'd have any issues ? Will give me a chance to put whatever training I take onboard this week for my new job in Consumer Direct to good use.

If you just bought the phone you should be entitled to have it fixed under warranty. Did you drop the phone? My E71 recently had a similar problem but it was due to the fact that I repeatedly dropped it...
Should be your earpiece speaker and mouth piece receiver is broken?

I've had it since the end of Feb when I upgraded my phone. Oddly enough I had it working today but when I used it again later in the day (and I had full sginal) the problem came back with avengence !

I have dropped it a few times, but certainly not from any great height !

It doesn't take a great height to damage your phone... I dropped it while holding it in my hand to the floor. I think that'd be standard distance from hand to floor, no? haha..

Well either way you should still have it under warranty right?

    Re: Faulty E71

Took it to the Orange store and they were like nothing to do with us, gave me a number for Nokia and sent me home.

I phoned Orange, got through to someone in a UK call centre no less and was told what my options were.

Option 1) send it away to Nokia but could take anywhere upto 5 weeks (getting a bit close to Christmas) kinda need my phone for around that time.
Option 2) They send out a replacement next day and I pay £70
Option 3) They send out a replacement I pay £60 and I also take their insurance for 4 months.

I'm sure Orange aren't acting legally here but well I took the third option possibly against my better judgement but meh it gets it sorted.

Sorry to hear.. sounded like you didn't have a backup phone... that's the thing.. we all need backup phones!

    Hope all works out

Unfortunately, the more complicated cellphones get and more convenient at the same time the less reliable they become as they break down more frequent due to the intensely complicated structure of its hardware and software... sigh... sometimes it's nice to think the simplicity of life without the 'cellphone'... leave the office and you'll never hear about work till the next day.... nowadays, you're working literally 24/7

I do have a backup phone but its not the best, battery lasts about 2 days and then it takes just as long to charge.
