    New phone needed, advice.

Need to find a new contract within a few days, currently have an n900 but the mrs wants it, so its left me needing to find something else.

Any advice ? I normally prefer stuff with a QWERTY keyboard, but that htc desire HD looks good.

Ide prefer something with decent battery life too.

I have DHD and it is a great phone for many reasons.... But like you I wanted keyboard but took the plunge instead as the 4.3" screen made browsing so nice.

Battery life will go 12 hours on heavy use once the battery has been charged a few times. The more its used the better it gets.

I do miss a qwerty keypad. When web browsing and trying to write long comments on forums like this, then the phone fails big time. Its very annoying. But there are few options when it comes to phones with qwerty keypads and large screens. The desire Z and Milestone 2 are both 3.7" screens, which are very good, but actually just that little too small for good browsing. 4" as on the galaxy s is a minimum really.

So until someone makes a 4" screen phone with a qwerty key pad I would decide whats more important... Large screen or keypad...

Personally, if I was to choose again, I might go with the desire z. The browser resizes text so well when browsing that it would still be ok to use.

PS good luck getting DHD as stock is very low.

I am on the same boat. I will go to CPW to play with DHD and D Z and have the feeling. I am leaning towards DHD but need to test both.

Stock seems to be pretty low. I want to buy on O2 (proting my PAYG from Virgin) as I'd have discount on my broadband.

Dial-a-phone has a decent deal on DHD at the moment, but the reviews of this retailer is disgusting.

    Any good deals around????

Have been to CPW and O2 shop. They didn't have the DHD demo, so just played with HTC HD7 phone. TBH the HD7 and DHD screens are too big. I think I'll get the STD Desire. Good offer on Quidco atm the moment to get the STD Desire (until 28NOV). Might give it go!!!

I would say BB (BlackBerry) still makes the best full qwerty keyboard mobile devices in the market. And they have the best pushmail (some say the ONLY REAL push mail), thanks to BB's enterprise network; however, except from the qwerty and the pushmail, I honestly don't like BB. I am an existing BB user. I still have my Bold 9000. Great phone, but when you compare with other phones out on the market, RIM is far behind with UI (user interface) and touch screen technology. I think their newest Torch is a great disappointment. Such a design is not great, especially with a touch screen that's smaller than the now almost standard 3.7 inch.

Since you're coming from the n900, I would say the Desire STD, Desire Z, or Desire HD would be your best choices. Don't go for the Windows 7 phones, ewww
