Talking I love my HD2 once again

Played around with custom ROMs when I first got my HD2 about a year ago and had only limited success - to the point that I went back to the factory ROM, and even then the phone was unstable.

Finally had ten minutes over the Xmas break to try again and got one of the more recent Energy ROMs working - which, to my delight, has Android 2.2 embedded (I'd also tried to get Android running previously - in a very limited fashion - without any luck).

So now I've got my HD2 running stable Android, loads of cools apps, a decent radio ROM so my battery life is no worse than it was on WinMob 6.5, a pretty fast benchmark (Quadrant Advanced (1500+), and I'm loving my HD2 all over again.

    Geek +1.

Re: I love my HD2 once again

Totally agree, putting a stable android build on my phone definitely gave it a new lease of life till I decide on the next phone (waiting to see what the X2 and competition is like in the coming months).

Are you running Android form the SD card or from internal memory following the recent jump to nand?

Yeah i heard they managed to flash android to the NAND on the HD2. Good to hear, shame it took so long though. The Desire HD is fantastic, im sure the HD2 with Android on the NAND wont lack far behind.

If I still had this HD2, hardware wise still a very capable phone - would no doubt be setting up this recent Android on the nand.

I think I may have to update from a SD to a NAND build. will give it a couple of months for the NAND builds to get properly stable.

Re: I love my HD2 once again

I didn't follow the development switch from card to internal - only just saw the recent references to NAND on XDA when trying to fix a previous install running from a external card.

This distro seems to be embedded within the Energy ROM I installed originally. Means that I have to reboot Android every time I reboot the phone, but given it's currently 100% stable, I haven't had reason to do so.

Do you have a link to the build you are running? I am running energy on mine but seen no hint of android in it...

My rom feels as smooth as my friends desire HD and much improved on winmo 6.5 with sense.

Re: I love my HD2 once again

I had a Nexus One for about three weeks before the wife lost it while we were in spain, and have to say it's just as smooth - in fact, with 2.2, it's got a whole load of additional functionality and is actually smoother. No stutter or hangs. Bloody perfect as far as I can tell.

Re: I love my HD2 once again

Been using the NAND stock Desire from when it was first released.

It is almost perfect, the only thing that has been bugging for me are calls.

When I make or receive a call i don't know what to expect. Sometimes there is nothing wrong, sometimes I can't here them but they can hear me, or vice versa. Sometimes i cant even answer the call because the screen laggs/ freezes right until the person hangs up.

A part from this problem the rom is fine. Could be a deal breaker for people thinking of trying it. Good job I barely make call though :3

Plenty of roms out and still coming out though, so I'm sure things will get ironed out fast.

I'm sticking with the SD builds for now, may switch when the nand builds look good but I'll probably have a new phone by then.
