    Re: Giffgaff or who?

There is absolutely no contract. It is purely PAYG. You put credit on your account (credit/debit card or top-up voucher (giffgaff/O2 - former works quicker) and then either pay for calls as you go (8p/4p voice/texts) or buy a goodybag and £10+ ones comes with unlimited sms/internet plus 250mins voice (special offer - normally 150mins).

You can currently buy one goodybag and queue another to follow the next month but giffgaff are to introduce auto-goodybags first quarter 2011.

If you want to try it I can give you a link (here) which will give you £5 free credit when you activate.

Smooth porting from Virgin PAYG to giffgaff. £10 goodybag gives me more than I need (voice/txt). I went for them because of good reviews and their data plan.

Picked up APN settings automagically on my San Fran running Jap release7.

    So far very impressed.

If you want to use my link(banner below) you will get £5 credit when activating your SIM.

So, correct me if what I am thinking is wrong - I buy a goody bag and until my £10 finishes ( lets say this takes more than a month ) from texts/calls, I have unlimited Internet ?

    Re: Giffgaff or who?

No, you use your £10 credit to buy a 'goodybag' which lasts one calendar month. Once it ends you can put more credit on your account and buy another or just pay for calls as you go. A goodybag of £10 or more does have unlimited internet for the calendar month just like texts. You don't carry over voice calls to the next month though; use it or lose it.

Hmm.. I see. I am currently looking for a PAYG SIM for my younger sibling where there will be very light net use and I would obviously like him to strecth the topup as far as possible

They do offer 100MB free internet per day until 28/02/11 after which there will be a charge which is being discussed on the forum. Think it was to be 20p for first 20MB or something like that.

    Re: Giffgaff or who?

It's PAYG, with "bolt on" style packages. Without a package, you simply pay the price(s) you see on the site. With one of the prepaid packages you get what you pay for, ie. unlimited data, 300 sms etc... These packages last 30 days (I think!).

You can Queue payments to roll the packages. But you can only queue two payments (I think!). If you're organised enough, you can always have a payment queued avoiding you dropping back to "unpackaged, payg" state.

I'm not on GiffGaff, but if I had to pay for my own phone, I would be.......... even if the thought of having to remember to top up would annoy me, the cost saving would make it worth while.

Also, it is an MVNO on O2. IMO, O2 are the best in the UK.

    /my terminology sucks.

The 'packages' in this case are goodybags which last one calendar month
You can buy two at once at present but the second one starts when first ends. They are implementing a continuous goodybag system which should be available by March 2011 all things being well
You can set an auto-topup feature which will apply set credit that you choose up to 3 times a month if your credit falls below £3.
There is a thread by giffgaff why they don't sell phones and a point was made about buying a phone up front and using a giffgaff SIM worked out about £150 cheaper over the 24months of a contract. You also have the ability to earn real cashback too. Apple were(still?) doing Iphone4 >£450 for interest free over 10months so you get a manufacturer unlocked Iphone and once paid off can sell it and buy an Iphone 5 if you like Being unlocked should get a few more pennies for you also

MVNO = Mobile Virtual Network Operator for clarification.

    Re: Giffgaff or who?

Giffgaff sent me a replacement sim only a day after I barred my old one! Still has the same number and Goodybag applied to it, top notch service IMO.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    assuming your PAYG
Phone tmob and ask for a PAC code
    Order a giffgaff sim
    Activate it
Once activated you get the option to port your number across.
