Can anyone tell me how much data is downloaded each time when you are using GPS on a Android phone.
My phone gives 600KB and that seems a bit too much!
Thanks

I think you need C.A.P.S. - Crow Assisted Positioning System. It is free but has the double downsides of being noisy and slightly grumpy.
When using the GPS no data is downloaded. Using a mapping application on the other hand is completely different.
GPS doesn't use data, it gets signals from satellites and calculates your position from that. This position is in longitude and latitude, the mapping software will then translate that into a geographical location. All the map data is then downloaded.
600KB is perfectly reasonable, so is many times more than that, it all depends what map data is being downloaded (maps vs. satellite photography, terrain or street view data) and how large an area you view at that time.
I have found the answer to this. It's 1MB as tested on my Android phone.
