    Best value smartphone contract

I'm due for a renewal on my contact soon and just looking at other networks (currently on t-mobile) to see whats available, all offers seem worse than my current contract (100 mins, 100 texts, unlimitied internet, unlimited texts booster for £20)

Before I stick with t-mobile, is giff-gaff really as good as it seems? I know a few of you lot use them, I hear they can be hit and miss signal wise?

I just checked there site and it seems you have to pay for non giff-gaff calls, however I don't have to pay for non t-mobile calls on my current contract, they come from my inclusive minutes?

Any better deals (preferably just SIM) for £20 a month?

    Thanks

T-Mobile do a 30 day SIM only contract with 350 minutes to any network,300 texts and 500MB of data for £15.32:

With giffgaff your going to want to use a goodybag, th basic one costs £10 a month and gives you
    250 minutes (any ntwork)
    Unlimited texts
Internet (has rules but they havent been a problem for me)

I think you also get free calls to other giffgaff numbers, so I moved the wife over a well. Porting the number was easy, I just completed the online form, gave the date I wanted and it went according to plan. Another good point is hat its all PAYG so you can jump ship if anything better comes up. Network wise its all on O2.

There are also other bonuses for non goodbag users, inlcluding some free internet, fee calls and txts to other giggfaff users.

If you do want a sim click my link below and we each get £5 of credit

Thanks CAT, current deal is better though as I'd need more than 300 texts!

Ah yeah thanks for that, what was confusing me was wether or not the minutes were any network or giff-gaff only as it specified a cost for non giff-gaff calls!

I think I'll go with Giff-Gaff then, using your link, what can I do with the £5 of credit if I am using a goodybag, just keep it for non mobile calls and stuff?

    Thanks

    Re: Best value smartphone contract

If you topup with £15, you can use the £5 to make the 2nd goodybag. The free calls includes calls to landlines, 0800 are free but 0845 and similar still cost. So might be best to keep the £5 as backup credit. You can stack a spare £10 goodybag, so that when the first one finishes the 2nd one will automatically start. You can also add credit using O2 topup voucher.

Because I have shifted my wife on to gifgaff as well (shes not using a goodybag), I have found that my minutes usage is low. Finding it to be a good system so far, but if I have any trouble its going to be quick and easy to jump ship.

Also worth noting, giffgaff dont allow tethering. But they appear to have admited that they can only detect it through high data usage.

I don't have to activate straight away do I, just order a sim now?

    Re: Best value smartphone contract

As far as I am aware you can leave it as long as you like, simcard comes in the standard simcard holder thing, with a bit of blurb about giffgaff. I found porting my number easier than expected, t-mob sent the code straight away by txt, I gave giffgaff a couple of days notice of when I wantedt hem to port it.
