Looking at side by side comparison the screen on the sgs2 is still better. Unless you plan on zooming out and reading tiny letters I can't see this being a reason to get the sensation over the sgs2, I have precisely zero screen resolution issues on my sgs2 and thats after changing the lcd density to fit more on screen.. Plus I think sense looks outdated now.
Sense is basically pretty Android for Apple users. I still think it's excellent out of the box, and does so with minimal fuss and plenty of eye candy.
You can create better with 3rd-party downloads, and TouchWiz isn't exactly horrid, but I do like the Sense approach for those who can't or won't play around with customising their phone.
I did sway towards the SGS2 in the end, but it wasn't the phone that swayed me, more the locked bootloader with then no indication of it changing. I don't regret getting the SGS2, but if I was making the same decision with an unlocked Sensation, I'd probably be umming and arring a bit more than I was.
Sense 3 I think on this, basicly a new version so you cant compare it to any of the other phones.
Well I have been looking at side by side videos of the sgs2 and sensation and it is running sense 3. That clock widget with the weather on looks several years out of date to me. Other bits are ok but it's no selling point to me with all the customisation possible anyway.
UI is a moot point for me tbh as Launcherpro is the first thing to go on. Touchwiz is fairly gash in my opinion, it feels very half baked and I have to admit Sense feels more mature and intuitive.
Go Launcher here, Launcher pro didn't seem to have the ability to create folders in the app drawer so it was very muddled. I know you can do it all using simi folder etc. and I do but I still want an organised app drawer and some things I don't want available from the homescreen but want to be able to find them easy enough.
Well I've had my Sensation for two weeks now and I really am happy with it. Just for the fact that it looks 'nicer' to me than the SGSII. I'm going to get myself a dock for the phone because I don't really like leaving it on my desk.
I'm really happy with the speed of the phone compared to my Magic. It's so smooth it is quite ridiculous. :p I'm a fan of Sense and although the SGSII might be better in some areas I feel that it and its GUI are too iPhone-esque for me to be happy with it. I would get riled by mates at work saying I had an iPhone-cheap if I got the SGSII I feel.
HTC Sensation vs. Samsung Galaxy S2
as maybe a lot of others really trying to choose between one of the two best phones on the market at the moment. Both the HTC Sensation and the Samsung Galaxy S2 have their good and bad points. Now I was wondering, what phone do you guys prefer?
Please also try to state why.
Caveat: I haven't even touched a SGSII.
I own a Sensation, just over 2 weeks. It's brilliant in comparison to my old N900, Android 2.3 really makes Maemo look outdated. Found several great apps (obviously same are on any good droid phone), and I'm sure plenty more to find.
The screen is beautiful and very responsive, the UI is super smooth and Sense, well it makes sense. Comparing to the Mrs' Desire the extra resolution helps with the web and keeps the screen looking crisp, also the large screen (and phone size to hold) makes the soft-keyboard usable for me with 2 thumbs in landscape, I can type reasonably fast... almost as good as a physical keyboard, I struggle on the Mrs smaller Desire screen still though to hit buttons reliably. Construction is excellent, reception is good, the camera produces some good results, call volume is good, the music player works well and external speakers are passable.
Worst thing so far is that hole where ringtone noise comes out is on the back, my leather sofa seals the hole when I put the phone down and causes ringer to be to quiet, solution - don't put it down on the sofa!
I'm a Google Apps & Chrome user already so there is much to integrate, beware using an old Apps account to activate with before you transition your account to the new format (any Apps users should understand) as it causes compatibility problems and a factory reset is needed.
My Desire contract ends in September, this looks a good upgrade, the Desire has speed issues occasionally which I would like to leave behind
Whoa dual core in a phone... What do people do on phones that needs that sort of power?
visit flash-heavy porn streaming websites? ;)
That or play some of the latest power-hungry games or watch HD Video!
I like the spec's of the Sensation, but it just looks too big for a phone, IMHO. It's moving towards the size of a tablet.
I think the HTC Desire S is the right size.
