The design, quality, app store and stability is what puts them where they are. Nothing can touch them at the moment.

That's largly a matter of opinion. The only thing I would firmly agree with is that the App Store is clearly better on most fronts and has more iPad optimised apps. The design is really subjective, personally I think they are bordering on boring - we've seen enough aluminium uni-body designs with various ranges of ipod, both ipads and iphones to last me a lifetime. Is there anything fresh or unique about their design? Not especially...

As for the Stability, Well, yes they are bound to be more stable when they enforce everyone to conform to their walled-garden ecosystem, but equally it stifles creativity, and is why Apple have so far refused to drastically overhaul iOs with the widgets and extra interface customisations it badly needs!

Frankly your wild (and frankly wrong) statements are clearly biased to Apple, either that or you have not properly used Honeycomb (and this does not include a quick play in your local store). How is getting an Android tablet a "mistake"? If it appeals to the user, has all the features they would need (and more) then how can it be branded a mistake. Can you easily view any flash content on an iPad? No. This makes it next to useless for many sites I visit. Will the iPad browser happily handle tabs making it easy to flick between different webpages? No. How about access to proper industry standards such as DLNA? no no no, you must use Apple's propitiatory AirPlay system.... And I daren't even start on iTunes.

The App selection is limited, for sure, but Honeycomb tablets are in their infancy compared to the iPad, and apps are coming out almost every day. I have all the apps for anything i'd ever need them for optimised for Honeycomb from Twitter, News, Gaming, Office Productivity etc.

Please in future if you are going to make your opinions known and appear so scathing, then I suggest you actually back your opinions with some logic, fact or even some open-mindedness... heaven forbid...

You can write as much as you like, what I said is still true.

I'm certainly no Apple fanboy, but I'm also not too proud (read: stupid) to buy an Apple product when it is clearly miles better than the alternatives.

Better for you, perhaps, we have one iPad at work because the bosses daughter got it for christmas and that is the only reason, we are still looking at all the options (dual core CPU's in phones for instance, wont be long before they end up in tablets, as well as other improvements that will be made) and still waiting for our CRM/WHM vendor to decide if they are going to produce an app for one/other/both systems as our main target for tablets will be at shows/exhibitions so access to the office will be important.

If the vendor goes down the Apple App route, then we'll get Apples, if they go Android, we'll go Android, if they go both, we'll go Android, purely because Android tablets are more flexible than Apple ones.

Do I still sound stupid to you?

True in your opinion, it seems as if you feel you cant be wrong, ever.

I have an IPod touch and after having it for a good few years I wont be buying another Apple related device ever again, whether its an IPhone, IPad or any of the other "i" equipment they have.

For Ipods, I will stick to something from say Creative, for PC's I will make my own, I dont really have a need for the IPad and as for a Laptop, I have a work one so dont need anything else.

Now I am probably wrong and what I said is all wrong to you. But im sure you will get where I am coming from..

Well the iPod DAC's are awful so if you are into music they aren't the best choice.

To be honest, most people that are anti-Apple are anti-Apple because they can't afford their products.

My Mac Pro cost just shy of £16000 all in and I couldn't be happier with it, you get what you pay for. Unfortunately for most people, they will never get to try one out and see what I am talking about.

    So what??

I have used Mac Pros and High end dell /custom PC workstations which run equipment worth well over £80000 and which are also used for data analysis too.

There is a difference between a home luxury computer and ones at work.

Please. Make more assumptions, I reckon there are a fair few people on here that could easily afford Apple products but they choose not to because the product is either made by apple or they feel another product is far superior.

Would you have the board director that has been in place since 26th July 2005?

I'd agree that many people buy a product other than apple because it meets their needs better, whether that is functionality or perceived value for money, but I doubt that many serious users would avoid a product just vbecause it is made by xyz.

Not quite sure what the point is there. Many companies have board members serving for long periods of time, Bill Gates was on the board of Microsoft for considerably more than six years.

Remember that Apple sell their products as much as an integrated commodity - so it is a device that happens to have software in it to make it work. Yes, that does (to some extent) limit creativity, but under the lid, if you get down to the OS internals, it is BSD with all the flexibility you need - if you can use it. There are also apple SDKs that help interface with the GUI (similar in concept to Vbasic).

However, lets not get into a pointless Apple V Android thread - each has its strengths and weaknesses.

Horses for courses. Apple may be good at some things, but there are disadvantages with the locked down approach, which have been very well put by others in this thread.

I agree with that too. I have never said otherwise, but it is my opinion that at the moment, the lack of Flash and locked-down approach is the only one worth taking due to its massive advantages over the Honeycomb tablets.

Right and with that can I politely ask that you leave my thread, let it get back on track and take your own ridiculous pondering in to a thread of your own? Anti-Apple because I can't afford their products? You couldn't be further from the mark for me personally. If i wanted I could go and deck myself out with products from across their range, but for many reasons already outlined, I choose not to.

OK - the OP posted comments about his Asus EeePad. He did not ask for opinions on its performance, styling, or capability vs any other platform.

Thread re-opened for discussions about the EeePad. If there are relevant and substantiated comparisons with other makes or designs of tablet devices, fine, but wild assumptions or thread trashing is NOT welcome.
