    Q about XPeria X10 Mini & Android 2.1

I have recently updated the OS to Android 2.1 on my aforementioned phone and now it does something bizarre.

Basically, when it's left charging with my laptop the screen will flick onto the key unlock page every 10 minutes. Like somebody's pressed a button or something when of course nothing has happened.

It's weird, does anybody have any ideas what's going on? The only apps installed on there are both versions of Opera and Google Maps. Cheers in advance.

That's just the phone being 'special' (god bless SE software department). They like to light up the screen randomly when charging just to make sure you know your phone is still alive. At least yours is charging, lots of reported (and I've seen it intermittently) charging problems where sometimes with the same charger you've used since new it decides just not to charge.

I've had another unrelated problem twice now, in that I get the dreaded 3 red l.e.d. flashes. For some reason, irrespective of whether the phone's on charge or not all the power will 'drain' away leaving the handset dead and unresponsive.

I have to remove the cover, and re plug it in for it to charge. It's a more common problem than what I'm going through above though.

SE should go back to the old days and produce fewer but really good handsets.

Sounds like a cream-crackered battery to me - might be worth thinking of a replacement. Oh, and your earlier problem, of the screen coming on randomly during charge is maybe down to the laptop's OS polling the phone. Sort of like a Wake-On-LAN event.

One suggestion though - register with Sony's own support forums and try asking/searching there. I've done similar in the past and been able to get help - sometimes from SE employees.

I've got an X10 (big one) myself, and my eldest kid has a Mini Pro - both phones have been pretty reliable, although she's now getting power drain problems. I suspect the SE 2.1 OS!

Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...
