Just got my SGSII today with 1200 minutes, unlimited text, 750mb, and free wifi. When I connect to the wifi it says its connected but then says can't authenticate. Where my house is there is a poor signal for the bt open zone, even though it does just pick it up.
edit: seems it is related to not having a strong open zone signal. On another note Play.com used to sell ringtones etc but have stopped doing so, any other store worth looking at?
Anyone got a recommended ROM? Might actually get my backside into gear and flash mine today.
Darkyrom with2.3.4 out yesterday.
Villain Rom is what I have my eye on. I'm waiting for 2.3.4 (non leaked version) to come out before I switch from stock.
It's worth flashing the CF Root kernel to get CWM though.
How are you lot getting on with this phone? I am thinking about getting one to replace my old SanFran. Main contenders are this and the Sensation, whatever I go for will have to be on 3 due to bad reception wher I work.
Worth highlighting this though, reasonably important I think:

I'm using KF4, pretty happy with it performance and battery wise, unlike the last O2 update (KE2?).
Anyway, Flibb my main gripes with this phone are:
- Wake up lag: It takes a second from screen off to come on.
- Home button lag: when pressing home to return home it seems to pause for a second also.
Much talk about these on the forums, but I don't find them that much of a problem but will take new firmware to fix I believe (KG1 2.3.4 leak does not seem to resolve this either).
I was under the impression that the home button lag is just the system to wait to see if you are double pressing it to get to google voice or whatever its called. Makes sense to me otherwise it really wouldn't be hard to fix, you read everything on xda about any phone and you'd think they were riddled with bugs, mostly it's user incompetance.
As for me and my sgs2, now running Litening 2.2 (@ 1.4GHz using Tegrak's app) and can live with software browser for now as I use opera mobile for a lot of stuff. Still loving the phone and think I would really be wanting one if I had bought the sensation, it just wipes the floor with every other phone there is. To make the sensation faster you'd have to take sense off of it to free up a bit of ram, the Tegra 2 still wouldn't beat the Exynos, which can easily be overclocked to 400Mhz from 266 in 3D btw.
Short answer: Buy this phone now it rocks. (leave it too long and you'll be waiting for the S3 I kind of already am)
Edit: oh and I recently changed to Giffgaff unlimited data and it's excellent for £10 a month, a must for such a phone really if you plan on getting the most out of it. Google music or other streaming service being just one of many reasons to not want to have to worry about data. Had the phone streaming via Tunein radio plugged into the stereo all afternoon at work :)
Going to think about it over the weekend, but will probably press the buy button sunday evening. I am currently on giffgaff and at home the reception is good, te reception at work falls over (often left without data or calls). Tried Three today and had HSDPA all day, only problem was I killed the battery on the sanfran.
Home button lag came in with KE7 firmware, never used to do it before that and to be honest it drives me bonkers. I'm running the latest Cognition ROM with 2.3.4 and it doesn't fix it w.hich I was disappointed about.
The battery life is my biggest complaint. But that should be fixed with the final version of 2.3.4 hopefully!
Can't say I've noticed any home button or wake up lags...
Apple aren't going to be too worried about bettering it.
You see, the Android phone manufacturers are just piling powerful hardware together and not thinking about the software. Apple make the software in tandem with the hardware, so they will naturally get better results.
Specs really don't matter to this extent. Dual-core, 1GB RAM, and then the apps are about half as good as iOS apps on average and don't take advantage of the power.
The SGS2 is a very nice phone but it's not even really better than the iPhone 4 and that is a year old. Unless you think benchmarks make something better on a phone, my oh my.
You keep telling yourself that, dissapointed you bought a sensation much?
Just seemed strange you slagged off the sensation in the semsation thread and sounded like you had used it right after posting here. I think we know who the fanboy is, and before you say it I can afford an Iphone.
Buggy and slow, sgs2....:O_o1:
