Using mobile SIM in data only device

If I use a normal every day SIM in (say) an iPad then what would happen if someone tries to phone or text the number? If the SIM was reinsterted into a phone, would the missed call and texts then show up on the phone?

I'm not quite sure and I couldn't trie because I gotn't one of this advices. But I think that it has to be like you said. Since Mac is a high quality company this should work.

Well you can't put a normal SIM into an iPad as it uses a MicroSIM, but if you could I presume that the texts would be stored at the carrier until they are able to be delivered. I certainly wouldn't expect them to disappear. I doubt the missed calls would appear though.

Txts have a validity time. Usually 3 days. Depends on carrier.
    After this they'll expire.

I know with O2 that if you send an mms they are flagged for delivery report by default.
After 3 days you'll receive a txt saying it's undeliverable.
