    Lost my Android

    Hi,

Short story; Left my phone on the beach today, somebody's picked it up, I haven't got it back.

I rang T-Mobile to block the handset and they've done that, sending me a replacement SIM out in the post.

Just thinking though, obviously the phone still turns on so whoever has it/bought it must still be able to use it and read through my texts and contacts? Just can't make calls/texts or use the internet?

Is there anything I can do to stop this, probably not but I thought I'd ask!

    It's 4.98*

    Re: Lost my Android

Do you need to set it up before you loose the phone though?? Maybe you could remote install an app like that from market website and then activate it online??

    Re: Lost my Android

Im not sure if its the same as 'wheres my droid' but i use seekdroid which allows you to find your phone and remotely wipe it, however as far as i know there is no way to remotely install software like that. I keep a 4 digit code to unlock mine so that im fairly safe if it gets lost at least until i have wiped it, not much good now but for the future i would say its worth it, minor inconvenience in the long run!

    Re: Lost my Android

Um, yes there is. If you go to http://market.android.com and sign in to your google account, you can remotely install stuff on to your phone. The installation will happen automatically and doesn't require any interaction from the users end. It could help solve the problem.

    Re: Lost my Android

You can remotely install but WMD would need configuring before you lost the phone still :/

    Re: Lost my Android

If you had a screen/pin lock you're fine. You get X retries for the screen unlock before you have to enter your gmail details. Without knowing what it is they can't get into your phone anyway.

Did you happen to have Lookout installed on there?

but yeah aside from the pointlessness of that little crack thanks for the info its actually quite useful. Although not to the OP anymore as the phone no longer has internet access due to it being blocked by his service provider.

Yeah, it's gone now, no chance I'm getting it back. I don't mind it'd just help if there was a way to stop them, nothing important on there really.

I have changed all passwords yeah

    Thanks for all the help!
