Quick charging through USB from PC?

I wonder if my HTC could be quickly charged through USB from the PC (even when it's off but connected to the power wall socket).
As I have found this info and I wonder if it's limited only for Apple products?

Should do - don't think there's any kind of special Apple detection going on.

On your Gigabyte board one of the usb headers will be a different colour, usually red. If your device to a ports connected to that header and install the quick charge utility then it should work.

Check the Gigabyte page for all the info and mobo support.
