The paperwork's arrived from Orange retentions. I am pleased. Of course, now the handset I want has appeared as an Orange exclusive, so I need to try and keep the bonuses without paying through the nose.
Yeah, wife has the original Pre.
**** battery life, best OS of any smartphone, which has yet to be competed with despite being released 2 years ago and lots of features being ripped off (e.g. WP7 is wipping off the multitasking UX for Mango, and Blackberry's Tablet OS QNX is a per-pixel clone of WebOS)
If you want to try WebOS, there should be a Touchpad tablet at your local PC World or Carphone Whorehouse you can poke. The tablet OS and phone OS are more or less the same.

The thing which can seem non-obvious if you don't expect it is "Just Type" - the search box on the home screen. Type ANYTHING into it, and you get context-sensitive options. Type part of someone's name, and they're in your address book, and you'll get buttons to send them an SMS or email or call them. Type anything else, you'll get links to Google or Wikipedia. Type a long sentance, and you'll get the option to start a new email with that content - or a link to an existing email in your inbox which you received, if you were searching for that email for some reason. *anything* the phone support can be accessed via Just Type - so you don't need to specifically start any app to do things, you can just stream-of-consciousness into the text box and start the app afterwards
