    Unhappy R.I.P my HD2

    Not a happy bunny.

Someone - who shall remain nameless (hint : bloody kids) - dropped my HD2 getting out of the car the other day, right on the corner. Screen protector is currently holding the screen together.

I have to admit that I have an almost unhealthy affection for this phone. Since I changed the O.S. from Win6.5 to Android 2.0 it has been what I almost consider the perfect phone (apart from a few niggling complaints about stability and screensize, and tbh, I consider them more endearing quirks than problems). Screen size, aesthetics, ergonomics, style, performance....just a really, really lovely phone.

Had to switch to a HTC Sensation, because they just don't have any Galaxy 2s out here at the moment, and it just isn't the same. I miss my flat square phone - this curvy nonsense just isn't for me.

RIP HD2 2009-2011...you are missed already.

I remember losing my HD2 back in early 2010? I STILL have not got over it - even before I could truly unleash it's true potential.

    RIP HD2's :-(

So now you can buy a phone with a more up-to-date OS? Think one of HTCs newly announced W7 phones might suite you, either that or a HTC Sensation.

'dat's what I said - 'switched to a Sensation'...but it's not the same. I think I would have been much happier if I'd been able to get hold of a Samsung Galaxy II - but I needed a phone and couldn't wait until I got back to the UK.

Anyway, the HD2 was running on Android 2 - pretty much up to date, and from what I can see from the sensation (2.2?), nothing much has changed.

fair enough, only HD2s with Android on are worth being sentimental over!

    Re: R.I.P my HD2

lol i used my HD2 with a cracked screen for 6 months with no screen protector. It just held together although there was a chunk of glass missing from a corner, but it still worked!!! Finally got it fixed in HK last summer because it was only £80 to get a new screen.

    Re: R.I.P my HD2

Sensation is 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 depending on provider. I stepped up to it from a Desire, and couldn't believe how different it feels. Animations are smoother, the screen is better, and it does most things faster.
Saying that, I've never tried an HD2, but isn't the Desire HD the same phone but in Android flavour? That should still be available...

Get an LG Optimus 2X and re-introduce yourself to flatter, squarer Android phones complete with the endearing quirks you love around stability & screen size.

TBH though for the money you'd be hard pushed to find better value for money!!
