Went for the Sensation after the Desire, more of the same really, slightly better battery life, better camera, but overall you don't get the slowdowns of the Desire where you would be waiting sometimes several secs for it to catch up. The extra weight is very reassuring.
One vote for Galaxy S2
I don't think you are going to get anything but positive feedback for both of these phones, they are both good in their own ways, I wouldn't be unhappy with either of them, they are top end phones so they should be.
samsung galaxy s2 is awesome but if u like the htc layout then different story
I'd go with HTC all the time.
+1 to Samsung Galaxy S2. I have used the phone for nearly 4 months now, only cons I have come accross are
- battery life (when under heavy usage)
- minimal visual interface customization options, can't change the unnatural black background in messages, calendar, menus etc (hope new Ice Cream Sandwich OS will solve this)
- looking up contacts could be smoother.
- keyboard layout, short 'space' button and 'settings' button right next to '.'
Apart from that, best smartphone on the market for average Joe.
I've recently bought a Sensation, as I wanted to sell off my old Desire before it dropped any more than the £100 its worth. Build wise, its very good, solid feeling, but really feels good in the hand. Its not a small handset, but it *feels* smaller than it is due to its shape (if you get what I mean). Its a personal thing of course, but I liked the ergonomics of the sensation over the SGS2, though that probably has the better hardware, from what I have read.
Performance wise, very quick and snappy, as you would expect with dual core. Downloading and installing apps whilst browsing etc gives no lag/slowdowns anymore, and generally pleased with the performance. I've heard so many good things about the SGS2 but to be honest, I've just got so used to having Sense that I couldnt be without it.
More than enough space for apps, and then you can just chuck in an SD card for anything else. Battery life, yet to see. From looking at the battery usage graph on the phone, the screen eats the biggest chunk of battery, along with any GPS usage (And by that I mean relatively more that it seemed to be on my Desire). Its manageable at the moment, and maybe I'm still messing around with it a lot, rather than 'normal' usage, but we'll see.
I've been on XDA and there are a couple of well used ROMs there that effectively give you a Sensation XE/XL in that the clocks are bumped up to 1.5ghz etc, but I like the fact that it scales back CPU freq etc when idle... I was on LeeDroid on my Desire, but gonna wait this out to see how it goes as there's nothing really thats a downer for me except maybe the battery, though that was expected.
The extra screen resolution is great though for viewing web pages that arent in mobile format, and generally just makes reading anything a lot nicer. The keyboard seems to be perfect size for me now, both in partrait/landscape. Overall I'm happy with it.

galaxy s 2 hands down there amazing i have the first one it pretty amazing
The Galaxy S II. It isn't perfect by a long shot but it is very, very good.
The Sensation is just poor. HTC are really being lazy these days.
How can you just say the HTC is poor without any further details, how do you justify the comment!
Agreed, how can you say that its poor and not state why?
I have the sensation and its great .. not here to bash the SG2 either both are easily the best phones on the market and the difference between the two are as simple as what you UI you prefer.
If your going to say something is "poor" at least state why you think that.
Dont take the baitwe all know the sensation is epic along with the SGS2 and even the O2x(with custom roms ofc!).
All of the major 3 have pros and cons, none are perfect because if they were well they would last weeks and perform as good as our desktops along with having a fold able display that adds no size and can be unfolded into a 27" 1600p monitor.
. Sensation is awesome as my dads got one cant really fault it, the only issue i had heard of was the "death grip" issue and ill be honest i couldnt cause any noticeable signal loss even while covering it with both hands! The issue seems fixed with most new ones as they added extra contact points on the back or something.
