All in all, I do like the sound and look of it / along with the feature of ICS - I may have found my new phone.

    They'll be a 16 gb and 32 gb version

Is it true that like the Nexus S it WON'T have a micro-SD slot? If so I will be sorely disappointed!

It appears to be true... and also looks like the UK is only getting the 16Gb model.

There are some posts in the thread that was posted in the News section though this seems to be a more sensible place to discuss it.

    My thoughts on the SGN:

    + 720p screen
    + Ice Cream Sundae

~ No SD Slot (doesnt bother me too much though would opt for the 32Gb if available in the UK)

    - SA screen is PenTile screen so not as many subpixels as if it were SA+ (ie SGSII)
    - Worries on the GPU performance with increased screen resolution

Once it comes out in the UK and drops below £500 I'll probably lob my money at it, assuming the battery life isnt dire...

[e!] - notice how the time is 4:00 on the pic HSK posted, I like subtle details like that

Probably. But then the Galaxy S3 should come with one, that is the pattern in the previous Sansung/Google releases. Same goes for the pentile vs. full RGB screens.

    Re: New Galaxy Nexus

There has been no announcement by Samsung about the Samsung i9000 receiving the ice cream sandwich update just yet only that the S2 will receive the update. There is a unofficial port of the ICS on the Galaxy S so it is possible.

I was pretty disappointed by the spec for the Galaxy Nexus as I was expecting something that would top all the phone models out their but now you have both the S2 and the HTC Sensation XE which seem to beat the Nexus for spec, the only selling point to me is that the Nexus will receive ICS before any other phone.

ICS will be available on many devices that have been rooted including my old htc desire.

CynagenMod are working on a nice fast stable ICS rom. Galaxy Nexus is not worth £500 over getting ICS officially.

Always worth rooting your phone. it makes it last longer and CynagenMods are usually always faster and more stable then the stock roms.

Its probably worth waiting to check if it’s coming to the Galaxy S and get the official version but if not rooting would be better than staying on the outdated OS and its simple to do as there’s plenty of guides online.

Contrary to popular belief it does not invalidate your phones warrenty by loading on cutom software as the warrenty only covers the hardware. The only way to invalidate your phone warrenty using the software is if you somehow managed to damage the phone or make it unrecoverable through modification.

As for the Galaxy Nexus I had a play with one today and overall it feels very nice - the screen is glorious and the soft-keys seem to make sense as I also have an Asus Eee Pad Transformer. Unfortunately though I think it's far too big for me - I don't have massive hands and I wouldn't say the screen looked any more sharp than the qHD screen on my Atrix beause of it's extra large size.

The lack of removable storage seems to be pretty easily overcome using a micro USB to USB adaptor, in to which a USB memory stick could be plugged. Many people would argue that wifi syncing and the cloud would suffice as additional storage to the included 16gb but I for one would rather have removable storage as surely with a 720p screen you would want to store a fair bit of HD videos which will extremely quickly fill 16GB.

Dont rush out and buy the new nexus, wait until early next year when s4 processors hit the scene, check out the spec of the htc zeta
The device is rumored to come packed with Ice Cream Sandwich (with some form of HTC Sense), a quad-core 2.5 GHz APQ8064 Snapdragon S4 processor, 1 GB of RAM, a 4.5-inch 720p HD display, 32 GB of internal storage, Beats Audio, Buetooth 4.0, an 8MP reafacing camera (dual LED flash, 1080p video) and a 1.3MP front-facing camera. All of this would be powered by a 1,830mAh battery.
