FM Transmitter for Samsung Galaxy S II?

    Hi all,

I've currently got an iPhone 3GS and my contract is just about up so I'm looking at what new phones I could get.
I've pretty much narrowed it down to the iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy S II.
The thing is I have a fairly long drive to work so I like to listen to my mp3s while driving. Now at the minute I've got a nice Gear4 FM Transmitter that plugs into my iPhone and automatically starts playing the MP3s. The other nice thing is that it doesn't need it's own battery.
Because of this accessory I'm leaning towards the iPhone 4S as I assume the FM Transmitter will work in there just the same.
However other than this I'd probably prefer to get the Samsung. So I was wondering if anyone knows of a similar device that can be used with the Samsung?
It needs to not need it own power source and if it would automatically start and stop mp3 playback when inserted it would be ideal.

It's starting to look like I'll be sticking with the Apple product (despite despising iTunes) just because things like the FM Transmitter work so well and other phones can't match it when it comes to accessories and the ability to 'just work'.

Anyone know of something that fits the bill?

    Thanks.

    Something like this?

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-FM-Tr.../dp/B002S8AFE8

Plugs straight into the head phone socket so should work with anything with a head phone socket.

    Not really.
It needs it's own power source and I'm not sure it'd automatically start and stop the music upon connecting/disconnecting.
I got the Gear4 one for my iPhone for free so didn't realise it'd be so hard to find something like it!

The problem is there isn't really the same level of interface for Android devices as there is for the iphone. There will be in time, support was added to 3.1, but as that's just for tablets just now, there isn't that big a market penetration. I would expect there to be much more, and probably pushed more with Android 4, which is due in November with a new generation of handsets.

    I have a galaxy S2

I have a unit that plugs into the back of my car stereo that doubles as both a handsfree kit and a media streaming device.

It has a tiny control panel that sticks anywhere on the dash and a microphone you stick wherever you want

Phone connects via bluetooth as soon as you turn on the ignition then you just push one button and it is playing out of the car speakers.

Really easy to install just unplug wires from the back of the stereo and plug them into this unit then plug this unit into the stereo, stick the little box inside the dash and it's a done deal.

Greatest thing is you can leave your phone in your pocket so no wires.

It's called an IO Play might do you quite well.

I use this in my car with an htc desire. It's also a handsfree/bluetooth fm transmitter.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jabra-Cruise...8104893&sr=1-2

Works pretty well as an fm transmitter in my opinion, you do get the occasional interference in some areas. Also has controls on the unit to forward/rewind.

Thanks for the link. I think something like that would be good for when I get the new company van next week. I think I'll need handsfree, but I won't be able to hard wire anything in. Amazon recommended the Cruiser2 instead, which also looks good. Handles two handsets at the same time which would be useful, I'll have a personal phone and a company phone to deal with.

    Both cruisers do multipoint

I knew that but did not realize they had an FM transmitter built in, looks like something i'll have to recommend to my next door neighbour as he is looking for a hands free solution.

Re: FM Transmitter for Samsung Galaxy S II?

Thought it might. I'll have to have a proper look at both, but as the Cruizer2 is newer, that's probably what i'll go for.

Checkout bay for the cruiser 2, thinking about getting one myself. £35 for A grade refurbs.

Re: FM Transmitter for Samsung Galaxy S II?

To be honest, I wanted to go for the cruiser2 but at that time it was more expensive around £65-70. Seeing that it's come down and if you can pick it up for £35 that's a good deal.
The big advantage is that it can store your contacts and read out the actual name, whereas the original cruiser will just read out the telephone number (not always helpful).
