Looking for the best music phone

    Hi.

I have a problem. i'm looking for the best mobile phone in terms of playing music. after having 3 phones in the last 9 months i'm still unhappy.

Had a Samsung Galaxy Ace. sound was above average but due to underpowered processor + RAM (and Samsung stating they won't update the software anymore) i had to sell it.

Than had a Sony Ericcson Xperia Neo but felt the sound was "flat" and bland" and left me disappointed and uninspired coming from a well-known phone maker know for its audio & visual expertise.

Now, i currently have the HTC Desire S. umm although the sound was "Ok" with its usual pre-set equalizers (common among Android phones) and SRS sound enhancement it felt me wanting more and although i have the phone for a week now i would say "so far-so good."

but i heard the best music phones out there are those with either Beats Audio (which are farely brand new) and the ones with Dolby Mobile.

at the moment i can only buy SIM-free phones as i'm due for an upgrade this coming Summer 2012.

    my questions are:

    1. shall i wait till Summer 2012 and stick with my Desire S?

    2. what best music features of a phone (e.g. SRS, Dolby, 5.1 surround, etc.) and what music phone can you recommend to me right now?

doesn't have to be Android but definitely not an iPhone (as i can't afford a SIM-free one) and a Blackberry (as they are known for a semi-closed OS and crashing data centres and paying additional
£££ just to access the internet).

    any sugestions guys?

Re: Looking for the best music phone

Some reviews have shown that the Beats Audio is just software tweaking. Although the Beats headphone may have some effect (i personally think the original HTC headphones that come with the Desire/S are terrible).

The best thing to do firstly is try the PowerAMP music app which has very good equaliser setting options. It seems to be getting good reviews.

Re: Looking for the best music phone

I tried the PowerAmp app (trial version) that you told me and i must admit i am very impressed by it. that was the most single best advice/suggestion i got from here in months.

I knew Beats Audio is just a gimmick (unlike Dolby which i think they actually put a chip on the phone) and I'm now inclined to stick to my Desire S before i upgrade the thing come 2012.

    Cheers!
