Hey all,
Anyone know how easy/hard it is to unlock an iPhone, currently on Orange and I need it to take O2.
Now I do not want to use a Jailbroken method {I believe there is one?}
Appreciate any advice on this matter.
There used to be an app on the store that removed the simlock, cant seem to find anything about it now though. However, take a look at these 2 sites, they mention an application called AppTap that will remove the simlock :

Not sure if this still works (Removed functionality side of things in the Apple software), but think it is worth a shot to save some cash.
Did you get this replacement from Orange or Apple. If it came from Apple the device should be sim free already.
If Orange contract then call them and ask for it to be unlocked, assuming the contract is paid up (over a year I think)they will unlock it (from memory so might have changed)
If it’s out of contract and you weren’t the original owner it’s still worth a try.
The jailbreak option is by far the quickest and easiest![]()
is way to do this on itunes...... dont mind how but im sure if you google it you will find it
didn't want to revive old posts, but if anyone new comes across this i just wanted them to know the truth!
How do I unlock an iPhone from O2?
Pay Monthly: Your iPhone can be unlocked free of charge at any time but you’ll have to honour the entirety of your contract (you aren’t able to cancel your contract early).
Pay As You Go: It costs £15 to unlock your iPhone. This comes from your Pay As You Go balance so you should top-up by £15 or more prior to requesting an unlock. If you unlock your iPhone within the first 12 months of ownership, you’ll lose the free Web & Wifi bolt-on that O2 gives you.
It takes up to 14 days to unlock an iPhone from O2. For more details and to begin the unlock process, see the O2 website.
