    Iphone vibration knackered?

A helpful tip I found in the recesses of google earlier.

My iphone recently had an...accident...and the vibrate was just dead. Hard resets, powers off, switching vibrate on and of....nothing would make it come back.

Except one thing....Pick up the phone, give it a shake. Job done, vibration back.

Didn't shake it any harder than say, a medicine bottle pre-consumption.

Hopefully of use to some folks out there

I find the vibrate too violent especially in Uni, but this is helpful nevertheless

I had a similar issue recently, ended up getting replaced by Apple for this.

I suggest if anyone is having issues like this with their iphone 4 and are still in warranty, to go straight the apple store. Some stores are running low on iPhones 4's at the moment and are replacing them with iPhone 4s (must be refurbished) instead! Can't argue with that.

I found hittin the corner with the sleep button against my palm a few times and some shaking eventually got mine working again (after it had been dead for a few months!) so can confirm shaking does jiggle it loose!

I had the same problem, but my iphone 4 was out of warranty. Got it replaced at the store but paid £140

If it's out of warranty you could try servicing it yourself - there are some great guides on ifixit and cheap parts on Amazon. It's actually not that difficult if you have patience and a steady hand - I know nothing about phone hardware and have fixed numerous iPhones for my friends. If it is within warranty and getting to an apple store isn't feasible, you can give them a call by reporting a fault online (Apple expresslane). You have a choice to either pay about £30 for a next day out-right swap of the handset (i.e. UPS come and give you a new phone the next day and take the old one off you) or they can send you a box for free to post your handset off and get your handset returned repaired within 5 working days.
