Got a bill for £1.14 after cancelling contract!

    Do I pay it?

I paid a large sum of money to get a contract cancelled then I stopped using the SIM card a few days after but from my recollection I didn't do anything to get charged extra.

Today I received a letter from Vodafone asking for £1.14. It feels so ridiculous I don't even want to pay it! It probably cost them £1.14 to print and send the letter!

Should I pay it or just complain to them?

My suggestion would be to pay it - is it really worth the hassle over £1.14? I think calling them would cost more than that....

It just seems so ridiculous thats all. I don't even know what it's for, I'm not a tight sod by any means, but when somebody bills you and you haven't a clue what for, you feel as though someone is pulling a fast one, I'll fill out the form and send it back to them!

Just a bill for having the SIM active after the cancellation date?

Phone Vodafone and ask them. It is that simple.

I'd pay it and not argue. If it was £114 however that would be diffrerent, I'd be arguing black is white then.

Re: Got a bill for £1.14 after cancelling contract!

Way mobile contracts work is you pay a month in advance with your line rental and a month behind with your usage. So that small amount could well be usage outside your monthly allowance or a tiny bit of your line rental if you disconnected after your billing date, its a typical final bill. It would be a zero amount if you were inside your allowance on your final month or you disconnected on the day before your bill gets generated.

I used to work for Vodafone (and followed with working for o2) in retail and it was quite a common query from customers cancelling their contract.

I paid the bill, I never queried it as it would have cost me to phone them. The originally told me when I paid the final amount that my contract wouldn't end till a certain date which was around 20 days after I paid it off, so I still had an allowance to use. But as said the line rental would make sense, it's done with now though, thanks for the input!

    You did the right thing.

It took me a while to figure out why Vodafone wanted a similar sum of money from me 6 months back. I did end up paying though
