Good Android keyboards?

Hi guys,

Having recently bought a galaxy nexus I am struggling to find a decent keyboard to use. I used to have ‘’Better keyboard Pro 7’’ on my old Galaxy S but that is no longer around. As a result I am having to find a new one. I have tried Swiftkey, Android OEM and Smart Keyboard but they just don’t seem to suit me.

I am just after a decent QWERTY keyboard with a big space bar (ie no full stops or coma buttons forcing the spacebar to be smaller) with a good auto-correct built in.

Smart keyboard is the best so far but its auto replace is utterly useless and puts in the most bizarre of words in at times. Having cleaned out the ‘user dictionary’ (ie all the words I have hit space for and it has saved) and the first two words I type are ‘do you…’ and it corrects it to ‘DO house…’ even though I spelt ‘you’ correctly!!

Can anyone recommend any good Android keyboards?

I'm currently using TouchPal, which is OK. It's got a swype-style input method which I find works better with my big fingers than trying to prod the tiny onscreen keys on my phone. if you're using that method it puts spaces between words for you, so you don't have to worry about the size of the space bar But on touchpal standard it is pretty small - might not be suitable for you.

I used the Swype beta for a while too, but one updated started crashing the installer, so I gave up on it! I find that style of input much easier than trying to pick keys though.

I have to admit that I've never really found an android input method I've been completely happy with. I think it's just the nature of the beast.

Having actually gone back to the android OEM keyboard I have been very very impressed with it. I imagine I never really gave it a chance and went straight to finding aftermarket ones when i got the phone.

The prediction works well, spell check work well and the space bar is a decent size. Not sure what I am more annoyed about, myself for not giving it a proper chance to start off with or the reams of truly awful (free & paid for...) aftermarket keyboards....

I really like the HTC keyboard (which I beleive you can get for non-HTCs)....I also quite like Smart keyboard Pro (although don't use it since moving to a HTC device)

Never got on with Swype at all, although some people really find it fast to use.

SwiftKey X is a fantastic keyboard that I've been using for over a year now. It has great prediction/word completion and several great themes to boot.

Swype is still my friend and enemy. It likes changing sentances to make them inappropriate...
I have to be careful if i'm having "duck fried noodles" now..

Very true, I'm a big fan of swype and not changed since moving to it, but I do have to check what I've written as the auto corrects can get quite funny.

Thumb Keyboard. I love it on my GS2, especially in landscape mode.

Swiftkey X is my favourite. Tried almost all the major keyboards on the market and all of them have got nothing on the Swiftkey. Best word prediction by a mile, best layout, it has a NUM Lock which actually shows a NUM pad, and a nice ICS blue theme.

+1 for Swiftkey X, such as awesome keyboard for my HTC. Predicts my words very quickly so I would recommend.

I love Swift Key X myself. Love the word prediction - I rarely have to type more than a character or two before it guesses what I'm saying...
